McCoy is a Panther

Recommended Posts

Buccaneers beat reporter Rick Stroud says McCoy texted him “see you Week 2,” which is when Carolina will face Tampa Bay first this coming season. The Panthers also meet the Buccaneers in London later in the year for their first international game in franchise history.

Tampa may have also poked the bear by giving McCoy’s old No. 93 to Ndamukong Suh.

Thanks Suh for pissing McCoy off.  Probably added to him making that call. What a shitty .org to take the number of one of the best players ever to play for you and give it to a piece of trash.

Is anyone else surprised it's only for one year? I figured he try for two or three.

We seem to be specializing in one year deals... Hogan, Williams, McCoy, Irvin.

I think only multi-year signings are Paradis and Reid.

Has Tepper's fingerprints all over this I think.  It's *REALLY* a prove it year for Ron and Hurney and Tepper's t means there will be a ton of flexibility to shift direction if it doesn't work, or if Cam's shoulder isn't right, and also with CBA looming.  Smart moves... would love to build a dynasty, but this seems like a good time to focus on short-term.

The team may have been badly undermined by too much loyalty in the past. Tepper is changing the culture.

100% guarantee if you order that (or anything close to it) on eBay right now both logos will be horrible off-centered and the sleeves will not fit firmly around your biceps.

So it will be cheap but not high quality?

We have enough good players all over the line and lbs that we should be able to rotate and keep people extremely fresh too

Almost TOO MANY! Roster cuts are going to be brutal. I mean typically we've kept what about 15-16 front 7 guys on the 53.

We now have

KK, McCoy, Poe

Addison, Burns, Irvin, Miller, Haynes

Luke, Shaq, Carter, Norris, Smith

Plus: Butler, Love, Obada, Cox...

Not to mention some of the promising young guys like Kunaszyk or Chubb.

Good problems...

Now all we have to do is pray both sides of the line can stay healthy. Last time that happened we went to the super bowl.

Worth noting that a lot of players are coming near the end of their contracts and probably have a lot of incentive to play big in 2019. Last season in contract =  (  ) :

  • Mario Addison (2019)
  • Bruce Irvin (2019)
  • Shaq Thompson (2019)
  • Gerald McCoy (2019)
  • Dontari Poe (2020)
  • Cam Newton (2020)
  • Greg Olsen (2020)
  • KK Short (2021)

Which all points to there being a LOT of huge decisions to make after the 2019 season roster wise.

Also Bradberry, Williams, Hogan, Torrey, Butler, Obada, Cox all have expiring contracts, I believe.  Could be exciting. Got to enjoy the ride this year. Next year could look very different!
