Not a troll at all. If one of them gets hurt what would be the plan. Roster stuff is what i focus on. Again sorry for a bad post, but it was sincere.

Dont be sorry on the huddle man.

Thanks for a serious post. Not as D ends in a 3-4 though right. Arent those guys typically 285 plus?

No chance Addison plays 3-4 end. He said the other day he dropped like 10 pounds. He is clearly an OLB and probably one of the starters. I imagine Irvin takes the other spot and the rookies and journeymen that we have can rotate in.

If he were to sign, the major benefit is that we upgrade from underwhelming and inconsistent Butler to previously-pro-bowl McCoy with seemingly a chip on his shoulder. Now we’d have Butler, love and maybe cox, the Samoan fella from the eagles, or the 2nd year guy from last year as backups on the line.

Depth at DE is an issue why I can't understand skipping out on a 3-4 end in the draft. I went back and looked, there were some solid guys available when we took other players.  The Scarlett pick in the fifth was the prime spot, but we opted to take a guy who is going to be on the sidelines a lot watching CMC.  Charles Omenhiu, Joe Jackson and Isaiah Buggs were all still on the board.

Not worried about Depth issue

Jusy dont see them cutting Butler, he'll backup KK and McCoy in 3 man fronts

While Im certain we will run Mostly 3-4 base.  But being "multiple"  we will have some 4 DL looks.  Where, that will help with the dept.

*side note as I brought up Butler.  IF.....Butler stays on the team and finally has a breakout year.  With us not picking up his 5th year option, if another picked him up to a Solid deal (again this is IF he has a bounce back year).  Would we still be eligible for a Comp pick?

Yes, we would get a comp pick if Butler signs elsewhere in 2020 as long as his deal is worth more than $3 million annually.

Even considering we didnt pick up his 5th year option?

It shouldn't matter as long as we "lose" him in free agency.  Club options are just that...options and those don't factor in on veteran deals when players hit free agency, so I don't think they would matter on a rookie deal either.

Thats how i see it anyway. We need not just mccoy but some more big DE guys.

One more thing, this is supposed to be a 'hybrid' defense, correct? We still should be playing a good bit of 4-3.  If Addison is dropping down to around 250, that leaves our only traditional 4-3 ends as Cox Jr. and Obada?  I think the whole 'hybrid' thing is a decoy and will almost exclusively be in the 3-4, especially as the season goes on a the players feel more comfortable in it.
