Who cares? He came back to us because he couldn’t find anyone else to give him more money. If he doesn’t do what’s asked of him he’s just making his next deal worse. He’d be just as happy with top G money if he can get it as that has been trending upwards the past few years with some guards making pretty close to top tackle money.

Yep. Martin and Norwell have gotten more than Juwaan James. Who just got the biggest RT contract this offseason. Not enough of a difference in positional value to matter.

That would be such a dumb move by us. Take a guy ranked high as a RT in first year starting and put him in a new spot, the easiest position on the OL. He has two year left on his contract and no injury concerns. If we actually fall on the it’s easier to move him to LG than Williams then our staff is truly awful with player decisions and they’ve just gotten lucky to have Newton and Kuechly to help them out. LG is the easiest spot to fill so put the guy we only expect to be here a year there and maybe, ghast, draft a G at some point after two pretty good classes of interior OL.

Agreed.  If they are smart, they will lock Moton in at RT and let

Little and Williams battle for LT--loser gets a look at LG.

Moton is the most versatile OL we have (even though they do not think he can play LT for whatever reason)--which is why I would not be surprised to see him at LG IF Williams is decent and Little works out at LT.

That is not to say I would do that.  To me, Moton is your  RT for the next decade.

The only way I'd feel bad for him is if we straight up told him that he was going to be a starting OT for us. I highly doubt that we did that, but if we did then I'd feel bad for him for being lied to.

Of course, if you were paying me $6M this year, I wouldn't give a flying fug if you lied to me or not.

To me, he is a G and should welcome the move.  Play to your strengths,  man, and his strengths are inside, based on his observable skill set.  If he lacked the agility and needed help at RT (NOT LT--RT), I am not sure a 330 lb man coming off a knee surgery should expect to improve in that area.  Moton outplayed Williams at RT.  Williams is no LT.  He is a G that can back up RT.

Dennis Daley is a project, but his final game was promising vs. Clemson.  He has a solid anchor, fair feet, good hands/arms.  I watched some older film and he was terrible.  He improved, and that suggests he is coachable.  His technique (still needs work) but was much better.

If he comes on,  the OL could be solid for a long time.

He is #74, the LT.  Yes, there are weaknesses, but they are fixable weaknesses.  I want to see more beast, less thinking, but if he has some in there, Matsko will find it.
