Five Panthers' players with pressure to perform in 2019

I read recently that the expectation is that if we are going to more of a 3-4 front that Rivera and Hurney have 2019 and 2020 to make the transition and change personnel to the new scheme. I am not hearing he is on the hot seat but we all know that NFL stands for Not For Long so he might be on the hot seat after all.

The list of longer or equally tenured NFL HC's isn't very long ahead of Ron....there is only 1 in that list who don't have a Super Bowl victory.

Never had back to back seasons, wasted our franchise QB's best years with average teams, cannot for the life of him handle clock duties, switched to a 3/4 that negates the talent of one of our best all time players, and has an abysmal record vs. the division over the last 3 seasons.

If there ever was time for an enema, it's now....but he will be here, along with Hurney thought at least 19.

If we don't make the playoffs barring some catastrophe I doubt Rivera gets the time to make thing right.  I think it is playoffs or bust. On the other hand Hurney might actually be seen more positively since he seems to be doing  a good job this time around. actually I think that this is our year and we go all the way. Then again I think that every year....

This is a very interesting take that I admittedly did not realize. Ron is signed through the 2020, and he has already turned in one losing season to the new ownership group.Marty I do not feel is quite there yet, as he seems to have done a decent enough job keeping the team together while adding on to it.

I also wonder if Tepper sees Hurney-Rivera-Newton as a trio, and that should they lose Newton, Rivera + Hurney will not be far behind. They've hitched their careers to his, and to be honest that's a pretty good bet for them all things considered.

Honestly, I don't think we see Hurney-Rivera-Newton as a trio. Cam's too much of a unicorn, a one of a kind player, to base whether a coach or manager will be hustled out the door when he leaves. Had Cam not developed or had the game designed around, Rivera would have been out long ago. If Cam were to go, for some reason, Marty and Ron wouldn't be tossed because ownership would want to see how they do with a more traditional set up at QB.

And let's get something really straight, Cam is a phenom and that can be a disastrous thing to be handed as a coach, especially if he is a non-traditional QB. Cam's talent has been put on display, but he has also developed and rounded out his game remarkably, that's a sign of good coaching and respect for the coach from the player. A lot of coaches have seen their careers dashed by getting the "starting day star" player handed to them. Heck, Jay Cutler has been the end of how many coaching jobs???

I had a nice 6 year stretch of believing. Finally going to cool expectations. I just think our window closed, it will comeback open very soon though.
