Keary Colbert to UFL

From PFT:

Instead of waiting for a phone call that might never come from another NFL team, veteran receiver Keary Colbert has opted to run a new pattern.

He's the latest player with experience at the highest level of the sport to accept a step back to the UFL.

Colbert has signed with the Florida Tuskers, in a move announced this morning by the UFL.

A second-round pick in the 2004 draft from USC, Colbert spent four seasons with the Panthers. In 2008, he bounced from Denver to Seattle to Detroit.

Players on UFL teams may jump back to the NFL as of late November. Some, such as Florida quarterback Brooks Bollinger, could draw significant interest.

Bollinger has played well for the Tuskers, leading them to a 3-0 record. His 759 passing yards are the most in the four-team league.

The Tuskers host Las Vegas on Friday night at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. The contest might draw a few less people than the WVU-USF game that will be played in Tampa that same night.

In their last home game, the Bulls brought more than 55,000 to Raymond James Stadium, 13,000 more than the Bucs attracted four days later for a game against the Panthers.

i hope the ufl is successful, football is such a great sport, we need more minor leagues for some of these guys to show their skills. i don't see how baseball (god awful sport) and basketball does a better job with having minor professional leagues.

Keary Colbert is a good guy, I hope he does well in the UFL.

I remember seeing Colbert catch about 2 passes in 4 yrs so right now he has as many as Jarrett so I say any team outside of a High School team that signs him has to be desperate. Considering the Panthers are one of the most loyal Franchises in the Nfl and they let Colbert's sorry ass go should be a sign.

Colbert was actually give a decent role in the Carolina offense....he sucked. Jarrett has been given no role to prove anything.

Colbert caught 109 balls in Carolina.

In 4 years he had over 100 receptions as a panther WTF are you smoking.

Jarret will develop into a good receiver he just can't get passed Moose on the depth chart. And its not even based on receiving (I think at this point Jarrett>Moose in that) the only reason Moose still has a starting gig is because of his blocking and I think Jarrett is better at that then you all think. He catches every thing that gets to him. I see him at #2 with Moore at slot (or vice versa) sometime this season.

    • I call bullshit. Brady,Manning,Brees and Burrow are all just ball distributors. And the better thier supporting cast and more experience they got the better they got. Thier best attributes were between the ears.  Now I'm not saying Bryce is gonna turn into one of them but what I want is for him. Is to have a solid roster around him and some coaching continuity too see if he takes the next step. Because everything I've seen and read after the benching is that his mental toughness and workethic are what we need in a QB
    • Many criticize our picks in 2024. I believe that most of them were picked because their ceiling is better than those selected before them.  XLs needs to learn how to play in the NFL. Once he gets up to speed he'll be worthy of 32nd pick.  Brooks, showed why we took him in the few games he played. The ACL injury really sucks but he can overcome these setbacks. Remember TD had 3 ACLs and eventually will be in the ring of honor one day.  Wallace will be a solid LB going forward with experience  Sanders, TE is a tough position to play. He a getting valuable playing time and will become a good TE.  Going down the remaining draft pics all seem to have a good upside. They may not be showing much now but they will start showing their worth next season.
