Marty Hurney tried to trade up to get Greg Little as early as the No. 21 overall pick in the first round

JR limited this franchise in many ways including financially. He'd try every other year and refused to do a lot of things financially and morally. You can't tell me that those limitations gave Marty everything he needed to do what him or Fox or Rivera wanted to do on the football field. JR wasn't absentee he was here and everybody knows that so took constantly bang on Marty 1.0 isn't fair either. He's killing now. Experience is a good thing. So is another chance at it all. I don't think he's taking this for granted.

I can honestly say no to your question.  How many players got blackballed here because of their character?   You're making it sound as if it were a ton.  As far as Marty 2.0 killing it, unless someone is a complete failure, they generally do better their second time around at the same job. Again, Marty has openly discussed his learning curve in his time outside the League and what he needed to do differently this time around. I'm super glad Hurney is doing well for the team this time, I just need to see the draft results also improve.

Y’all are ridiculous. I trust the GM, scouts, and coaches who are paid to study these guys full time to know more about them than we do. Maybe Greg Little’s gonna be a beast, our staff sure does think so. That being said, glad we were able to get him in the second over the first round. You guys just don’t like the Little pick because of some unfavorable words Kiper, Reddick, etc. said after we drafted him. Crazy how a couple sentences effect people’s perceptions like that.

There have been very very many players the huddle has wanted year after year only to say "JR wouldn't allow it" so what are you saying?

What the Huddle wants and who the team actually were considering are two different things.  I'm saying how many players were 100% blackballed by JR that Marty seriously (or Gettleman) was considering either drafting or via FA?  I'm pretty sure we still drafted Hardy and Worley despite the red flags and some guy named Cam Newton.

Sadly I dont trust RR judgement anymore. He's been flat out horrible at judging players and coaches alike. His player/coaching changes usually come 3 to 4 weeks after fans on here have been screaming the obvious.

Sadly we can only judge by history because we'll never know those names. We never invested in anybody "risky" in free agency that includes Greg Hardy.

I'd say that is somewhat true, but the red flags for Hardy and Worley ended up be spot on.  Not ever red flag player ends up being a organizational blight and some red flags end up being justly deserved as with those two guys.

So only Hurney.  Under any circumstances.  Should never *ever* trade back into the first..for any reason whatsoever?  Period.  Interesting take.

I mean, he didn't.  He looked into it.  And saw it wasn't worth the price.  So I guess because he didn't do it, that means he didn't learn from his mistakes?

To me it wouldn't be "learning from his mistakes" if he took an absolutist approach to never trading back into the first under any circumstances.  It would just be a new mistake that could screw over the Panthers.

Learning from your mistakes would be realizing when it was worth trading back into the first, and when it wasn't.

I think having Tepper around instead of his buddy JR has made Hurney realize that his job is on the line vs Hurney 1.0 who basically did what he wanted with no consequences

So which is it, JR the puppet master or JR the absentee owner?  It can't be both.  Obviously it's somewhere in the middle as I've been saying. At any rate, you guys are picking the easy target by blaming the guy that's no longer around instead of a guy that flubbed up a lot in his first stint as a GM just because he's currently here.

He’s not the only one scouting and making these decisions.
