Keto Diet

While I will say not all dietary lifestyles are right for all people, I am loving the keto diet.  Yes I have lost 20+lbs so far and my energy is through the roof for and old fart.

But the reason I am Liking it the most is from the anti inflammatory benefits I am getting from it.   I was a catcher for 20 years all through college.  And while I am only 46 it felt like my knees and hips were a 100 a couple months ago.  I have horrible varicose veins from squatting all though years and had terrible edema and swelling in my calves that was so frustrating. Couldn’t even walk around a zoo with my kids or mow the grass without having to come in and prop my legs up.  Compression socks helped but not a lot. And I hated them. I was very close to getting surgery on them  

I now have started running again and can mow the grass or be on my feet all day with no problems.  To me it’s a godsend.  I feel like I got my life back. 

It may not be right for everyone. But for me it’s not a diet.  It’s a lifestyle to manage the inflammatory components of my body.

I did keto for about 3 years and it works.  Combining it with a 16 hour fast drops weight like crazy.  I like deli meats and most of the ok items so that made it easier but if u stick to this diet it is ultra effective.

Since then I’ve quit meat and eggs entirely.  Go figure.

I never worried about meeting any fat % when doing keto or doing any of the crazy things like adding tons of oil to different things to get extra fat.  Only thing I bothered to do was count net carbs, and if you do just one meal a day, which is pretty easy on keto because you usually aren't too hungry, you can have a pretty big helping of veggies with your dinner.  Its a suprisingly clean way of eating really.  One thing though is if you don't get enough salt and potassium you can get to feeling like crap on it cause you flush out so much water on that diet that stuff goes too.  I started using that half salt half potassium lite-salt and it solved that problem for me.  Its definitely not for everyone though.

I do carnivore OMAD where I eat only animal products and just once per day. It’s wildly effective.
