Steve Smith's Career Highlights | NFL Legends

Man, I remember the 2003 and 2005 seasons... the absolute wizardry that Steve Smith concocted on the field was something I will never forget...

While most NFL players are competitors, few have the drive and the rage that Smith had.  He used to make sure he had more in the tank than you did.  He did have his issues on the practice fields, and he paid the price for those.  But he was an absolute terror on the field.  His crazy:results ratio was unreal until the end.

I have so much love for him as a player, but then again you look at his community service record and he was a wonderful citizen.

No qualifiers

The greatest WR I have ever laid my two eyeballs on.

This. 100% absolutely. If Steve Smith had've spent his career with Peyton Manning like Marvin Harrison did, I'd speculate that he'd be at the top of all the records for WRs. He'd even have more yards than Rice.

I see a lot of people bringing up 03 (the year Smitty exploded as a WR) or 05 (which was his GOAT year)

However, let's also not forget that in 2008 Smith had 1400+ yards even though he missed 2 games! Dude led the league in average rec yards per game and similar to 2005 had some of his most impressive highlights.

Fun Fact: Jon Gruden infamously nicknamed Steve Smith Freddie Kruger, that's how afraid he was of Steve Smith's playmaking ability and showed his respect for Smith's ferocity

I know it's after he left, but 2015 Steve Smith was almost as crazy. He was on pace to hit 2005 numbers in yards and receptions before he got hurt.

This is so true, and sadly people will skim over the stats without the proper context. I was rooting for him to get gaudy numbers in Baltimore through and through. So sad to see him go down like that. But I guess the bright side is that we got one more year from him.

You must be from the crowd that isn't even old enough to know about greatness of number 89 and say things you have no clue what you are talking about.

Assumptions...I've watched 89 from the stands about 40-50 games during his career and plenty more on TV. I was there the night he broke his leg against the Packers in 2004. No one is questioning how good he was on the field or his tenacity, you just lack reading comprehension skills.

Must be nice to use insults by saying I am stupid and cannot read. This sounds like a insult which could get you banned/suspended for doing it.

Well you either didn't read my first post where I mentioned how good SS was on the field, didn't understand it, or just chose to ignore it. If my statement hurt your feelings that bad and reporting me is what you feel is necessary go for it.

Throwin’ it back to the day when 89 officially became Fred Smoot’s Father.

2005 Smitty was the best Smitty—productivity AND theatrics.

I was at this game. My dad, as a Vikings fan, was naturally not amused.
