It's just a person tweeting. No reason to give them any merit. He's not a fan at all just another  Twitter blogger draft and fantasy dork. Why the fanbase comment?

Agreed.

People like that are just looking for attention. Why give it to them?

what's the cap penalty for cutting kuechly? multiple brain injuries and a couple shoulder surgeries is pretty concerning. when will we invest a first or second day pick in his backup? better to be safe than sorry

2018 Dead Cap: $7,202,515
2019 Dead Cap: $11,307,545
2018 Cap Savings: $789,999

2020 Dead Cap: $4,712,514
2021 Dead Cap: $7,132,514
2020 Cap Savings: $10,800,059

2021 Dead Cap: $3,512,514
2022 Dead Cap: $3,620,000
2021 Cap Savings: $11,195,059

2020 & 2021 would be the most likely seasons. The team took insurance policies for him in Klein, Mayo, Carter Jr, and Smith over the years. If there are question marks due to his health and the Smith/CarterJr not growing into a starting calibre player, would definitely hope to see a high pick spent on the QB of the defense.

3 5ths and a 7th? those were basically scratch off tickets. nothing substantial.

if we can cut him in 2020 then i guess 2019 is a big year for luke. a 4th concussion in 5 years would be approaching dan morgan territory.

Regardless of where they were drafted, Klein and Mayo were good players.  Certainly not Kuechly standard, but good players nonetheless.  This team has a ridiculously high standard for our LB's, we have had some of the best in the game for our entire history.

Klein turned out to be a starting ILB, so while he was a 5th (and apparently, was supposed to be a 4th but Kugbila was taken instead but Klein was still there in the 5th) it did pan out. Mayo was also required to fill in for Luke during those concussions as well, so again, regardless of when they were selected the investments were made and they appeared to have paid off (let's be honest, every round is a lottery ticket). Hopefully the same will be said for the Grier selection, rather than the Butler selection which turned into a colossal bust though I suppose that maybe it helped the team save 500k/season on KK? Who knows.

Hopefully if a day 1 or 2 pick has to be spent on Luke's position, that pick won't get the same level of hate that Shaq got when he was picked to eventually step in for TD.

im just drawing attention to the disingenuous arguments put forth re: cam's injury history but i mean, yeah. i don't trust anyone who thinks we should be spending valuable assets on a backup quarterback strictly due to the HOF caliber starter's injury history yet remains conspicuously silent when it comes to kuechly, a player who has repeatedly suffered more serious injuries. his next concussion may very well end his career and impact his quality of life. meanwhile we would be left with no capable replacement.

not to mention even as a backup there's better chance for immediate ROI with a drafted linebacker. they provide special teams value and can rotate in situationally. a quarterback drafted to be a backup will uh....carry cam's pads at practice?

How many people actually advocated for drafting a QB in the first 3 rounds before we actually took him? I seem to recall most of the consensus revolving around drafting Grier was that people would be okay with it after the third round...but even then, not really clamoring for it as a need. Most of the debates revolving around Grier was essentially Mr. Scot vs. everyone...you seem to be conflating advocating for the pick, with accepting and understanding the logic behind the pick after the fact. That’s the difference between Cam and Luke...nobody was advocating for drafting a Luke replacement, but I guarantee that if we drafted a top 5 MLB with our compensatory 3rd round pick, people would have also accepted that to the same degree as the Grier pick.

And what’s this about using valuable assets? It’s valuable asset, singular...as in one single draft pick used on a QB since 2011. I don’t see how that’s anything worth getting up in arms about. I also doubt it’s coincidence that this comes on the heels of Cam’s injury-afflicted season where he had to be subbed out of the game on two different Hail Marys. So you can’t ignore that the coaching staff thought we should be spending “valuable assets” on a backup quarterback...the coaching staff that is in constant communication with team doctors, has access to medical information, and all-around have much more insight than we do.

Comparing QB and MLB is where you missed the boat.

But let's say they are exactly as important. Should you not look to shore up one until you can shore up the other?. You are trying to make a point I guess but the logic is silly.
