Bradberry is in the last year of his contract.

He's not the kind of guy you let go, he's the kind you keep and hope he has a good, long career here. Every Smitty needs a Moose, and he's that guy for us. He isn't highlight reel material every game, he just goes out there and makes a receiver have a long, tough and unproductive game.

I'd say $7-9 million a year and I'd lock it in early so there's no question for either him or us. He strikes me as a guy who'd never let us down and regret a contract, but he could be a guy that we'd hate to see lining up against us in the future.

There's also the possibility that Bradberry will want to bet on himself and his performance this year. If he could luck into 3 or 4 INTs via lame ducks or tipped balls along with his typical coverage work, he'd break the bank. It'd be risky for him as a down year or an injury could tank his value (see Daryl Williams), but it's a risk that could potentially pay off big.

This x1,000,000. We would really regret letting him walk, especially if it was a very reasonable deal.

Count me in for him having a career year. I am down with that for sure.

Those tipped balls are going to need to be gift wrapped and delivered to him in order for him to complete the INT. Dude has bricks for hands.

Preferably after signing that extension.

Before, after....matters not to me as long as we are successful. I wouldn't fret a bit if his performance helped propel us to another NFC South title and a deep playoff run.

From a future contract perspective, it would suck during negotiations but it also wouldn't have been me that made that blunder, so.......shame on you hypothetical future Marty Hurney.

People dwell too much on interceptions like that’s a big determinant of a CB’s value. Shutdown corners get paid BIG, regardless of whether they rack up tons of interceptions (Revis is an example of that)...and I think Bradberry is on the fringe of being a shutdown corner. I would expect in the range of $8-10 million annually.

That’s kinda like saying a DE averaging 14 sacks/year would get considerably more if he averaged 8 FFs instead of 2 FFs. Maybe slightly more...but it’s gonna be fairly negligible IMO.

Eh. I say we give him a one year prove-it contract. He's had a defensive coordinator every year he's been in the NFL. Let's see which defensive scheme he plays best in. Also gives Action Jackson more time to groom.

It took Josh Norman had the opportunity to work with the same defensive coordinator for 4 years. Bradberry hasn't.

There is nothing for him to prove, especially to the Panthers.

I have been saying a LONG time, we are going to have to spend some big dollars on James, and I'm not real sure that we have planned for it.

To me Bradberry seems a lot more valuable to the Panthers than he does to other teams. Even if we think he may be worth $10-12 million per year, I think we would be bidding against ourselves at this point.

He doesn't check off any of the obvious objective measures that people who aren't intimately familiar with his play would use to gauge his value. As has been mentioned, he has a shockingly low number of interceptions, zero pro-bowl or all-pro selections, and was not even in the top 25 cb rankings by pff in 2018. Don't misinterpret me to say I think he's not a good corner because I think he is. But based on that, who is going to be offering him $10 million or more other than us? Now if he gets a pro-bowl nod or 4-6 picks this year, it's a completely different story. I would offer something like 4 years, 32 million, 18 million guaranteed, before the season starts.
