2016 what a poo storm....Same guy that said you never draft for need drafted 3 cb's that draft. One couldn't make the roster, another tried to fight a group of cops.

Obviously he wouldn’t be worth the money to pick up that option. Doesn’t mean we can’t resign him if he gets it straight this year. I assume he will be at The 3-4 End spot with Poe in the middle. Maybe that will suit him better? Maybe he needs the pressure from a looming contract?

Look Gettleman has been AWFUL in NY, but the VB pick at the time made sense and the guy clearly has first round talent/measurables, just not a first round attitude. 

I think his best position is 3-4 DE. It's a win-win for us at this point. VB balls out this year and gets a nice deal elsewhere? Great I'll take the comp pick. VB busts out and doesn't do poo this year? Great we can move on this offseason.

Eagles draft a LT when they have one of the best offensive lines in the league. Smart keep a strength strong.

No it didn’t. It was never a good pick. You are crafting a story that never existed. It was supposedly between him and hunter Henry.  It never made sense and was even a reach at the time.

I don't know how Hunter Henry would have fared here, but Butler was not a reach - at least according to the "experts".  I just googled "2016 NFL mock draft" and the first 5 I found had Butler going at 35, 27, 28, 27, and 28.  We drafted him at 30.

The guy has had a bunch of nagging injuries.  He's 24 years old and has played 3 seasons.  Its possible he may not be done yet and can still live up to those 2016 expectations.

Vernon Butler has not balled out in 4 years. What make you think this upcoming season will be any different. Dude is a bust and a wasted roster spot.

a. its only been 3 years.

b. it takes Dlinemen longer to develop - especially from smaller schools (he went to Louisiana Tech for god's sake)

c. 3-4 end may better suit his strengths, who knows.

d. he's had nagging injuries causing him to miss reps.  maybe he stays healthy this year and things fall into place.

I'm not advocating to pick up his 5th year option or extend him.  But I sure wouldn't cut him this year - especially since he'll be motivated and playing for a new contract.

Hunter Henry hasn't exactly set the world afire either. He can't stay on the field. 

Also hilarious that people on one hand criticize our board for drafting VB but praise that Henry was on the board. 

Also what story am I crafting? The fact that KK was on an expiring deal? The fact that pressuring the QB is paramount in the NFL?

Reminder that the draft is a crapshoot and even the best teams miss a lot of the time. 

Now if you want to criticize Gettleman for trading up and not ever realizing their is value in trading back, that I'm all ears for

It seems like half of the 2016 1st round guys arent getting their 5th year option

SF- Garnett 

Paxton Lynch and Corey Coleman have already been cut multiple times

Pitt- Artie Burns

Minn- Laquan Treadwell

Wash- Josh Doctson

Jets- Darron Lee

Bills- Shaq Lawson

Saints- Eli Apple

Tenn- Jack Conklin (one of those top 10 OTs)

2020 DT free agent class is decent plus a semi decent DT draft class next year.
