lol i "resorted" to bringing attention to the obvious contradiction. OP is right, will grier is going to get very familiar with the bench. i share his frustration with sacrificing a 3rd round pick for the privilege of parking him on the bench. nolan nawrocki was wrong. yet it was OP who "dumped on a player who just wants to come in and contribute" while nolan nawrocki, the man you have repeatedly defended, was doing...what exactly?

So yeah... You've got nothing else.

Thought so.

i have "nothing else" other than the pretty convincing argument that you're not arguing in good faith

In other words, trying to paint me as a racist because you have nothing else to argue with.

No shock.

Dude, Cam won MVP. That trumps anything anyone else here has ever done. Add in what he accomplished as a rookie and his guiding us to four playoff appearances and he's way above Pep

Winning MVP doesn't make you the GOAT in a Panther uniform.  Cam a first ballot HOFer if he retires today because of the MVP? Matt Ryan got a MVP.   That ain't a Matty Ice comparison but merely pointing out the MVP only cares so much weight into a conversation.

Like I said, I am a Cam fanboy and have always projected he goes down as the GOAT.  His shoulder concerns me some but I still feel confident in that.

but GOAT to put on a uniform is talking about career, legacy and a whole bunch of stuff.  Cam ain't at the top of that list presently.  He is owner of the best singular season though.

Agree to disagree, I guess.

Another stellar 3rd rounder Hurney

Pie for the title alone. Don't agree though. Why not get a guy you think can back up Cam in a pinch? An actual guy that could possibly actually win games for you is pretty valuable in the league. Somehow Norv had him over Murray. I don't understand it but I'll damn sure have my popcorn ready.

which is cool.  What you got.  Mine changes some on mood I guess.

89

and then

Pep/Cam/Luke all get tossed around from time to in my order.

Luke probably the best actual player big picture though.  Plays a position where exactly how good he is doesn't get to show as well as some of the others. .

nah let me be clear: you painted yourself as a racist when the nawrocki stuff first went down. i'm just contrasting your reaction to his obvious hit piece with your reaction to OP's thread. there is no denying the inconsistency. you took issue with the OP for non-football reasons. same reasons you defended nawrocki. you cannot expect to be taken seriously given the fact that you defended nolan nawrocki's vile attack while today taking issue with someone pointing out the obvious: we spent a 3rd rounder on a bench warmer.

Riiiight.

Again, you can't argue the issue, so you go to this...

Pathetic.

Luke is the most talented and Cam is the most gifted. But a top-five list would be something like:

Cam
89 or Pep
Pep or 89
Luke
Gross

Gross being retired for five years makes you realize how valuable he was

is it possible the nawricky article bothered him and he didn't realize it was a racist hit piece?  we didn't all know that when it came out.  we had the number 1 pick.  cam had some troubles in college, that damning article came out.  i know i hoped it was bs but i was worried about it.   it wasn't until later we all knew what it was.

Cam's Hall of Fame claim will come down to his absurd rushing/TD numbers for a QB. It will depend heavily upon how that skillset is factored into the argument for a QB.

i don't think you can put him in with 3 winning seasons so far.  not being a qb.  no friggin way.

I haven't read this thread.

But Grier was drafted to be a backup to Cam Newton.  Pretty simple.  And the older Cam gets based on his style of play the more important it is to groom a capable backup.

My post was for people who are getting insecure about the Grier pick. I’m on board with Grier being solely a backup

Which is why, outside of potential Super Bowl win(s), he's only getting in if his unique rushing ability is consider Hall of Fame material.
