Dan Morgan on Matt Moore

one test is worth a thousand expert opinions

only way to really find out if matt moore can handle the job is to let him try. even the opinions of the team are skewed as it appears they are thinking with their heart instead of their head as far as jake is concerned.

i'm not saying that they don't know what they are doing and that i know better...i'm saying that they are backing jake not because of what he is doing but because of the man that he is and what he has done in the past. imo, results are all that matter. if the results aren't good and jake doesn't seem to be able to shake off his funk then move on to someone else. you keep testing to see what works. you can't do that if you are emotionally tied to one of the choices.

we know what jake is prone to do this year. he has had 6 weeks to show us this season that he really isn't much better than he was in january.

let's go ahead and get moore in there or even feely. i don't care which one at this point (though i would rather it be moore than feely just based on feely's history of sucking) just make the change.

the sooner, the better.

Dan Morgan probably can't remember what he had for breakfast, who cares what he thinks. If Matt Moore would have started earlier in 2007 we might have had a shot to get into the playoffs. and why didn't he start? fox believed in his vets- 44 year old Vinny Testurdverde and David Carr. just like Fox didn't believe in DeAngelo Williams so he went with Foster and drafted Johnathan Stewart to replace him.
:smash: Hehe very true bro. Morgan has been hit so many times in the head he does not know what bank his money is in most of the time. !! Bad joke lol:rolleyes5:

... The front office has ignored the quarterback position since Delhomme was named the starter ...

The Front Office has always tried to get by cheap on the QB position. Apparently Jerry Richardson's game plan is to win NFL games with physical imtimidation.

You know, I think the overall philosophy can work. In an offense such as ours, you really don't need a superstar, franchise quarterback to win games. During Jake's tenure -- and during some of his most successful years -- he has been blessed with a strong ground game and a good defense.

It's a tired old cliche, but you live by the sword and you die by the sword. If you're going to settle for a mediocre quarterback, you've got to make sure these other aspects of your team are on point. We struggled defensively early on this season and in some games struggled to get the run established, thus forcing Jake to try and win the game for us. I've defended Jake in the past, but he's rarely been the type of quarterback who can put the team on his back and win the game on his ability alone. More than anything, the Panthers need a game manager right now -- and sadly, I don't think that's in Jake Delhomme's capacity anymore.

Do you need it spelled out? I can go dig up Garcia's stats from his WCO days in SF, his last season there when a new system was installed, his time in Detroit and Cleveland, then his resurgence in the WCO in Philly and then Tampa Bay. Do you think I'm making it up?

Garcia plays great in the west coast offense, and he always has. He's always played terrible in vertical attacks. Guess which one we run?

I will readily admit, however, that Garcia would not be any worse than Jake has been. :)

feely is a system QB who isn't even good in his own system. he has spent his career in WCOs and every time he has had an opportunity he has played like jake is this year.

when was the last time that feely played? why is that? after so many years in the league wouldn't you think he would be held in higher regard than that? maybe it's that every other team knows that he is horrible.

why the panthers picked feely....a QB with no experience in a system like ours...is baffling. at this point i don't expect many things to make sense. they are handling the DT situation well from what it seems but other than that it has been a big head scratcher.

Sometimes I genuinely think the Panthers are scared to bring in someone who could legitimately threaten Delhomme's starting position.

Morgan probably has trouble remembering his own last name from all the concussions.
hey dan, just so you know...there's only a few of us in here saying stuff like that. most of the rest of us genuinely respect you.

signed,

those who don't want you to kill us. :o

I don't know of any skill player on any other team that is said to not know their teams playbook. The panthers however now are rumored to have 2 players (Jarrett and Moore), perhaps there is a playbook problem with the panthers if that wasn't already obvious.

There probably are it's just the fact that a backup player not knowing they're playbook isn't exactly news worthy, especially on the national level.

Anything is better than what we have now...and YES....final answer!

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit, but then it never has been, huh? ;)

I agree to an extent. Feeley is thought to be able to play non-WCO comparatively better than Garcia, but he has no record on which to base that--it's just speculation from the reporters.

I think money could have had a little to do with it--Feeley is cheaper. He's also seven years younger, for what that's worth.

All the hating on Dan Morgan in here is sad. The guy gave everything he had on every play, and that effort effectively cut his career short in his prime. And he did it for the Panthers. You guys who mock him are cowardly assholes who would kiss his ass if he ever deigned to talk to you in person.
