Drafts past. Playoffs for other sports going on so question. Are the Carolina Hurricanes more relevant in the Carolina's now than the Hornets?

Where are you seeing Hornets gear?

Alabama,  Texas, California,  New York, Tenn, Illinois,  Ohio,  Indiana, SC, GA Florida, Mississippi, Michigan,  and Maryland.. Pretty much every where I've gone I can see Hornets gear in stores or even worn in the hood.. Again the turquoise or purple  and White stripesis are popular in the  urban areas..

Really?? What part of the state are you talking about?? The places with the most population definitely know who Kemba Walker is..

Probably a pretty good chunk of the state that isn't Charlotte or a suburb of CLT. Hard to proof that out without doing impromptu polling, though.

In stores doesn't really count, IMO. National chain sports stores are going to have pro gear even outside the local area. Sounds more like you are referencing fashion related wear(urban, etc) which I can see.

Ahh but that's the game! Pats can only count in Mass!

IDK, that is basically the team of that entire region, in fairness. In fact, I wouldn't see a fault with it being a free-for-all in the poll. After all, there are a lot of transplant near major cities so you do get pockets of fans from other areas. I think the averages would still work out similarly.

NBA success is completely dictated by having access to superstar caliber players, if you don't have one or more, you aren't going anywhere(save for maybe a Gregg Popovich coached team). Right now the only player in that discussion is Kemba Walker. In the 29 year history of the franchise, we have probably only had a handful of elite players and most of them were on the pre-2000 Hornets. That's a problem. Also take into account that a lot of the talent we had stockpiled left to New Orleans with Hornets 1.0. The rebuilt Bobcats/Hornets have been awful...just awful at drafting. Literally just Kemba Walker since that time.

Ouch.

Yeah, another of the annual rituals on sports radio is hearing Hornet fans excitedly talking about who they might get in the draft, shortly thereafter followed by questioning and disappointment over who they actually got.

Yeah that has been the real kick in the balls, of the few chances we have gotten at getting a high draft pick, we have completely flubbed. Then with Kemba we are just mediocre enough to miss the playoffs and be out of the range of the elite players.

I see Hornets gear everywhere way more.. Outside of this state the Hornets have a more national presences.. For some reason the Triangle thinks they are the major representatives of this state.. When easily Charlotte and surrounding areas are what ppl know and come to see..

Charlotte and surrounding areas are what people know and come to see?  Are you referencing tourism?

I would have to think that the coast, especially from Southport to Hatteras/OBX is where a huge majority of the tourism takes place in this state.

Maybe I'm wrong on that, but I can't imagine too many people decide to vacation that year in Charlotte.

I remember fans going apesh-t over the lottery the year the league took over New Orleans.

The NBA could go a long way toward lessening the charges of that being rigged if they'd just do it publicly.

Never really understood why they felt that needed to be done in secret (assuming it's not rigged).

Charlotte is a business hub a banking hub and the population center of the state.. CLT brings more money to the state than any other region.. I promise you more ppl are coming to the CLT than the outerbanks..

The NBA lottery system is RIDICULOUSLY stupid.

The overwhelming majority of those people are also not going to give two flying fugs about any Charlotte sports, so I am not even sure what point that is supposed to be making.

Really?? Because I know alot of those ppl shut down Downtown Charlotte for the allstar game and events.. Parties every where stars every where.. NHL isn't doing that in Raleigh.. The Triangle doesn't have infrastructure to host anything like that..
