Drafts past. Playoffs for other sports going on so question. Are the Carolina Hurricanes more relevant in the Carolina's now than the Hornets?

This argument is dumb... right this second the canes are more relevant than the hornets since one team made the playoffs.

But I lived in New England my entire life before last August.  I saw Hornets gear and met Hornets fans there.  I never saw a single piece of Canes gear, let alone knew anyone that followed them.  Could that change over time? Sure, I suppose.  But even in Raleigh, I saw more Hornets gear until a couple weeks ago...

Don't worry Bro it isn't really a argument more than a cry for attention.. We honestly could have had this conversation either in The Hornets or the Hurricanes forums on this very site.. But OP knew the biggest fan base he could annoy is on the Panthers forum...

This argument is ridiculous...

Both teams are from the same state and a lot of people like myself support both teams. I’ve been to countless games of both teams and sat glass and court side for both. Additionally, I’ve been to playoff games for both teams and my hope is that each wins multiple championships. However, I’ve also attended games when they both sucked and there is hardly anyone at the games.

Unfortunately Charlotte is a transplant city and a lot of the crowd at Hornets games are fans of the opposing team... with that said the Hornets still have a great fan base that supports them. I remember attending both Hornets/Heat playoff series (with LeBron and Post LeBron) and the building was electric. I’ve also been to games that were so empty that they’ve moved me down to the first row because the arena was empty.

Additionally I’ve been to some Canes/Rangers games where I’m the only fuging Canes fan in the section and I’ve also been to some games where you can’t hear the person next to you because it was so loud.

The Canes are having a great season and deserve all the support they are getting and we don’t have to tear down the Hornets to justify the support the Canes are getting.

The bottom line is that it would make me much happier to see both teams in the playoffs year after year rather than just one team.

I’m gonna say no. Hockey is a 2nd-3rd teir sport that appeals to a certain demographic. It can’t reach world wide popularity because half the world doesn’t really play hockey. Most hockey teams are from cold regions or so that leaves out half the world. It will be popular among their base of fans such as nascar fans, but to reach work wide fame? No

Soccer being a easily accessible sport is the most popular because you can play it almost anywhere, basketball ,baseball, football all of those all you need is space. With hockey you need tools that everyone can’t afford so it kind of pigeon holds the sport. Are the winning hurricanes more popular than the struggling hornets? With a certain demographic. Ask the average person in the world. The answer is no.

Literally no one cares about soccer. Also no one cares about the Hornets. I say that as a fan, as well. If you are historically and one of the worst teams the league has ever had(which the Hornets are), no one is going to care about you.

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world so i beg to differ sir.Americans might not care about it as much because we suck, you are spewing personal opinions not fact. Followed by basketball so yes even a terrible basketball franchise far out rank your own personal love of a smaller threshhold sport. Again, If you want to talk about popularity among a certain demographic maybe that might be different but i dout it.

Hockey is only played and popular in large caucasian regions... That leaves out the rest of the world...

By far the biggest winter sport in the world and although it is popular or played in specific countries like Canada, Russia, USA, Scandinavian countries like (Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden) some easter european countries like Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic it can still boost huge popularity specially during the world championships and european championships

What's the point of invading these hockey threads if you don't like Hockey and we got permission for them to be here. Don't like them, get out and ignore them.

Just be a civil adult, geez people.

uhhh they invaded a Football forum?

Nope, we asked if they could be posted in here and was given permission. Plus it's the off-season and everything goes in the main forum during that period. The game thread was even stickied before the draft happened. So nope, no invading at all.

Just sports fans having a discussion about the most successful team in the Carolina's professionally speaking for this current season.

Well he should have stickied one thread and be done with it. I don't want to come through here and see all hockey threads.  We don't come running through the Hockey section during football season with panthers games... this is just not a good business plan.

Well, then maybe retreat to another website.

WTF is your obsession with the racial make up of a fanbase? If that is your sole criteria for liking or disliking a sport, you are probably going to find that you have some real uncomfortable and contradictory realizations(specifically with being a Panthers fan).

Additionally, I could give a flying fug what the rest of the world enjoys in terms of sports. Germany, England or whatever can jerk off soccer as much as they want, but it still doesn't even make a significant blip on the American landscape. It's the poor man's version of the PBA. People will watch it if it is the only sporting event available. You let me know when you see an MLS game that draws more ratings than reruns of Murder She Wrote.
