Drafts past. Playoffs for other sports going on so question. Are the Carolina Hurricanes more relevant in the Carolina's now than the Hornets?

I get that this has become a Raleigh vs. Charlotte pissing match but as a fan of both the Hurricanes and Hornets this is pretty uneven argument.

One team is making a deep playoff run and is set up for future succes, the other is going to lose their superstar point guard and have a roster that rivals an NBA expansion team.

Hockey is also a team sport where there is a lot more parity because you have so many players playing at one time, like the NFL.

Basketball is 5 players that matter. It is so much harder to win consistently because you need to get lucky and get really good players or a superstar in order to advance in the playoffs.

Hornets have been as unlucky as they have been poorly GM'd. Everything changes if a ping pong ball bounces the other way and you get a change to draft Anthony Davis or Ben Simmons. Hornets have had horrific lottery luck since re-entering the league in 2004. Likewise, if Philly gets Jabari Parker instead of Embiid because they moved up in the lottery, their team is totally different.

I’m gonna say no. Hockey is a 2nd-3rd teir sport that appeals to a certain demographic. It can’t reach world wide popularity because half the world doesn’t really play hockey. Most hockey teams are from cold regions or so that leaves out half the world. It will be popular among their base of fans such as nascar fans, but to reach work wide fame? No

Soccer being a easily accessible sport is the most popular because you can play it almost anywhere, basketball ,baseball, football all of those all you need is space. With hockey you need tools that everyone can’t afford so it kind of pigeon holds the sport. Are the winning hurricanes more popular than the struggling hornets? With a certain demographic. Ask the average person in the world. The answer is no.

They never caught any flak for teaming up to win. I always wondered why.

Well because it was manager generated. Not player generated. Plus, they were all over the age of 30. KG was 33 for instance. Terrible comparison. Wade, Bron and Bosh were all under the age of 28 for crying out loud.

Pretty sure the average person would say yes. Especially if you told them the Hornets were horrible and borderline useless, while the Canes are winning and in the Playoffs. LOL. But, you can keep trying.

Maybe the average white male... and that’s a big maybe. Fact is probably all of hockey’s fans are 96% white. And probably only a portion of that population. Ask the average person out side of that and they couldn’t name one player on the hurricanes roster or ever in history. Where as the Hornets I’m sure most would know Alonzo Morning or Larry Johnson and even kemba Walker. But tell yourself whatever you want I’m sure you know the truth tho.

The team name is hornets... and it doesn’t matter if they did or not more people would know kemba over... I couldn’t name one hurricane.
