Interesting fact regarding all of our 2019 draft picks...

I've notice one thing that all of our draft picks have in common and that is all of them coming from big programs. In the past, Carolina typically has been known for selecting 1 or 2 small school prospects in the later rounds so for them to go for big programs to get their guys seems to be a positive, imo.

Furthermore, 4 of our prospects (Little, Miller, Daly, and Godwin) all played in the SEC where they have been known to play against several current and future NFL talent. Miller being the only one to have a SEC Championship on their resume.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think all of the small school draftees won't work out in the NFL (because clearly there has been guys in the past that have been successful coming from small schools) but I think Rivera and co realize that the way to win Championships is to look at talent who have competed against NFL caliber talent.

Thoughts?

Lol to give a serious response, I feel like having experience in pro ready college systems can only be a good thing. Bama especially has churned our studs for years. Bodes well for Miller. 

A lot of these small school picks of ours were on guys like Edmond kugbilla or whatever his name was who just totally busted. Might be a small correlation there

I like the philosophy, and I wonder if our new analytics department had anything to do with the new approach, or was it just coincidence? I've never been a fan of draft picks from small schools, ESPECIALLY in the first 3 rounds of the draft. I just like players that consistently played against the best competition in college, which is why I was excited about Andrew Norwell when we got him as an UDFA.

See, that would be interesting to know.  Has analytics changed the way we look at smaller school players?
