Elijah Holyfield

I just said this in another thread but Holyfield is a monster and his dad is/was a legend. He's easily one of my favorite UDFA and it's not from a lack of mesurables (though his 40 time isn't ideal). He's a thumper that could really be a short yardage monster compliment to CMC. Look at this kid's build.

Seems like we always get an UDFA and they seem like they will be great but rarely are. We'll see

nah they never seem like they'll be great. some people here like to hype them up for no reason.

I love him. Wanted him early and in all mocks, had him comin to us in the 4th. Holyfield and Scarlett are tough runners. CAP and Hood better not make the team or Ron can say goodbye to this team real early.

CAP and Hood are tough runners also, particularly Hood. Of course we can probably assume that if CAP were an answer, he'd have secured a place by now, so he's JAG. Perhaps Hood can be viewed in the same way albeit he is still somewhat of a mystery. I am just not rubber-stamping any of them right now. Skill set, including blocking should tell the story.

Well one thing that we can say right now is that Hood is better at catching the ball out of the backfield than Scarlett so I think it's going to be good competition.  Let's hope Hood has fully healed because he was looking pretty good before he got hurt last year. It's still possible they can sign someone before training camp starts because Scarlett may need to go to the Practice Squad. I hope Holyfield makes the team because he definitely seems like someone that can push the pile.

I know people poop on his 40/speed, please watch some videos(not just highlights). He was running away from DBs and LBs that ran in 4.5s. Not saying Holyfield is Emmitt Smith, just for reference. Emmit ran a 4.7 in the 40 at 5 feet 9, 216 pounds. It's rare but some play faster with 15 lbs of uniform/equipment in-game environment. I believe this has a good shot at being herniays best UDFA ever. Its wiiiiide open for #2 RB, he could fill that role.
