NFL.com post draft power rankings

i feel like reviews like this..people look at the Panthers record from last year and assume Cam was at 100% the entire season.

Obviously Panthers were a night and day different team at a very specific point in the season, mostly attributed to Cam's shoulder getting injured.  I feel like people aren't acknowledging this, and expect Cam to play the same...aka injured.  Without realizing he was injured.

Did the writer know that we used to be about too5 in sacks for 3-4 years and then fell to around 27? Getting a pass rusher was a must, especially with Mario getting older and Pep retiring. Samuel, Moore, CMC and Olsen are enough to not take a wr early. I can understand the hate for Little, but maybe on the trade up, not the player himself.

We finished 6-10. It is what it is. Everyone in here thinks we were a playoff team if Cam stays healthy but we needed a 63 yard last second kick and a 21 point 4th quarter otherwise we’re 4-4 before falling apart. We could easily have been 4-12 last year. That’s not the team people get behind.

Why is winning close games looked at negatively?  Thats what good teams do.

Pats won 3 regular season games by a TD or less.

Rams won 7 games by a TD or less.

Chiefs won 5 games by a TD or less.

Saints won 4 games by a TD or less.

Many of these close games were to non playoff teams.

And? My point is we were 7-9 last year because we beat Teddy and had two miracle wins. If it was a close game and we won on a last minute TD I wouldn’t have mentioned it. I only mentioned the games teams lose 95% of the time. Seeing a lower tier ranking based on our results last year isn’t surprising to me. Teams with 7 game losing streaks aren’t even touted as average

I guess my point is the 7 game losing streak needs to be taken in context, and not in a vacuum.  The 7 game losing streak is only relevant if we feel that Cam's shoulder is going to continue to be injured.  If the injury fully recovers, the 6-2 start is more relevant (and a more accurate portrayal of the Panthers) than the 7 game losing streak.

The people who put these rankings together aren’t going to look that deep and Cam hasn’t shown anything yet. 26 isn’t surprising to me. Let’s turn it around if Cam isn’t truly healthy. We were 1-7 with a win over Teddy Bridgewater when Cam was dinged. What if he’s dinged all year? You yourself just said 6-2 is more relevant IF he’s healthy

For sure.  If Cam isn't healthy it will be a horrible year.

But my impression is that these articles are being written from the view point that Cam is healthy (while using the period of time Cam was not against him..as if he was).  Typically if they are taking into consideration someone being injured to start the season its mentioned.

I expected to see Carolina smack dab in the middle. But 26th? Cmon, dude. Unless this guy knows something about Cam’s shoulder that even Cam doesn’t know, there’s no way that Carolina belongs in the bottom 6 in the League. No. fuging. Way.

Dude, we don't even belong in the bottom 6 in the NFC

Hard to say that right now. With Cam's shoulder up in the air, and with serious concerns about his ability to throw the long ball following last years 0 passes over 30 yards, we could be looking at a starting QB with almost 0 experience. Judging by the last half of the season after Cam was hurt, it's a fair assessment.

    • This is factually incorrect. He was a two time Pro Bowler with the Rams and in fact statistically he was better with the Rams in his best season there than he has been with the Lions(could change with this season). Some of his per game stats have creeped into being marginally better with the Lions but there have not been dramatic differences in his play, actually. The biggest reason that McVay and he ended up splitting was McVay didn't think he could win a title with Goff. TBH.....so far he was 100% correct. Stafford almost immediately won them a SB and Goff in a historic run was about 70% of the reason the Lions faltered in the NFC championship game. He missed critical throws all over the first half and throughout the second half that he normally wouldn't. He choked. So, until Goff actually does win a SB...McVay has been right.
    • they have the best defense they've had in a long time...probably the best in the reid/mahommes era.  but i think they are probably the most beatable they've been in a while as well. record doesn't exactly bear that out, but they just don't look as strong on offense as they usually do. lots of reasons for that, like trying to build chemistry with newer receivers, but right now they just aren't as frightening as they typically are. i mean they'll probably win tomorrow, but i don't see them as the strongest team in the AFC right now.
    • He will likely remain unsigned the remainder of this season(barring someone being in a pure QB panic AND making poor decisions) largely due to the cost. I do think he will get multiple offers to be a backup QB and perhaps a couple to potentially start this offseason.  I will continue to beat the same horse over and over.....he should go to a successful team with an established starter. If I were him, go to somewhere like SF, LAR, etc. Somewhere with a successful QB coach and brilliant offensive mind and ALSO a set situation at QB. Ride the pine and adjust for a year or two. Chill and be around better culture. I would suggest the same for Bryce but he will be limited to wherever we can trade him.
