Did anyone else notice that Carolina avoided taking even one wide receiver in the first two days of the draft? A bit surprising, especially when you ponder the names that were in the 2019 class. Then again, the Panthers did what most of the draft predictors said they would do: With their first two picks, they swiped an edge rusher ( Brian Burns at No. 16 overall) and an offensive tackle ( Greg Little at No. 37) to plug holes. After tabbing Will Grier in Round 3 (No. 100) to be Cam Newton's caddy, the Panthersdecided on Christian Miller (No. 115), a linebacker who only started a handful of games at Alabama -- but that isn't exactly a knock when you consider Miller's injury history and the fact that the Crimson Tide are more like a cover band for an NFL playoff team. Miller, the son of former Giants linebacker Corey Miller, put on 44 pounds at Alabama by devouring a bowl of SpaghettiOs every morning. Uh-oh.

This was my thought while reading his comments. If anything, change receiver to FS, and the entire thing reads better. Still not a fan of Burns or Little picks (I felt there were better players at the same positions on both picks) and I wish we would have traded into the second (instead of trading up in the second) to get a FS to push Reid to SS and improve two positions at once.

Sometimes I think I should be a sports writer.  it can't be hard, as apparently you don't have to have any idea what you are talking about.

How would the Panthers drop 2 spots for neglecting to draft a WR in the first two rounds, while plugging..instead..two legit holes?

Not the greatest insight or team knowledge in the world. 

Maybe two years ago the complaint that "they did not draft wide receivers" would have been a good rationale for docking them two slots.  Of course, the way things were for a while at that position, one could argue we should have been drafting six each year, hoping one or two might stick.  But those days seem to be gone and any WRs drafted this year would have been for depth.

These guys don't even watch panthers football or keep up with the team, then they proceed to spout nonsense. WR was not a need for us in this draft we drafted for our needs except for a safety because the draft did not fall that way.
