To be fair, when one of his key points isn't even the person drafted but looking into the future to see how the Panthers will use a player that hasn't been on the roster long enough to put on pads....

Yea I understand opinions based off your evaluations but saying how we will use him as a reason is pathetic Ron’s had number one defenses in a 3-4 and 4-3 base been coach of the year actually excels at defensive strategy so to assume he wouldn’t get the best outta a defensive player Todd Todd Todd Todd stop it now you’ve gone to far with the bs.

How is McShay any less qualified than the other “grades” people have raved about? It’s not. But anything said against the team, right or wrong is unacceptable

Because other grades I have seen don't try to be a psychic and actually comment on the person drafted?

McShay's grade on Burns has almost nothing to do with Burns.  McShay's low draft grade on Burns is " I am looking into the future, and the Panthers won't use Burns in an effective way that I personally would use Burns".

If you want to rip a draft pick.  Go for it.  But actually talk about the draft pick.  Or anything tangible.  Don't just make up hypothetical scenarios as the reason the pick is bad.

If you'd notice, I am not ripping on McShay for commenting that Little is soft.  Little had inconsistent play, and a lot of his value is based on developing him into a tackle that will play consistently at the high range he has displayed.  He has great potential, but he definitely played soft at times.

The whole grade is an exercise in psychic. You are judging how EVERY player will do in the future. And how they are used is a vital part of that.

And that D grade isn’t because of Burns. It’s using two picks on a lazy LT, and another on a QB that we hope doesn’t play. Ever.

If you’re going to argue the grade, argue what he really didn’t like.

I never once argued the grade.  Only that I strongly disagreed with this particular assessment.

Sure.  And my argument is that McShay is wrong on how Burns will be used.  It shows a lack of understanding of the Panthers and their goals going forward.  Someone so out of touch with this major point, makes me question the rest of his analysis, and deems himself as an unreasonable source.

I mean..the way McShay doesn't like Burns has it sound like he wouldn't like any Panther pick.  He is using subjective material that is so vague he could apply it to any team/pick.  Because its based on nothing.

Gave the Panthers a D

Hated the Little pick claiming he is soft

Likes Burns but claims the Panthers are not going to use him right.  And Burns is best fit in a role like Anthony Barr

Claimed Grier was a mega reach. Ryan Finley/Jarrett Stidham were better QBs and still on the board

Bro, im an Auburn fan. Stidham is not in the same universe as Grier. If we'd have drafted Stidham i might have needed some time to reflect....in a sanitarium. He gave up this past year at Auburn and the summer before was vacationing with his fiancee and generally bullshitting around. He doesn't take the game seriously.

We got the players our coaches wanted for their scheme. Most pundits ignore how players fit in a particular scheme and focus on measurables and stats in college and not how they will translate to the scheme they are going to be used in their new scheme. Will our guys work out. Hopefully so. I am glad there are critics out there. It doesn't change how I feel about the draft.

He specifically says he likes Burns. But has questions, like I do, about how this “switch” plays out. Can you guarantee success? Will RR switch back if it has issues early? No one knows how this plays out. Is he even a starter? Who knows?

We have one 3-4 DE who has never played the position. No one else fits there. Who are the 3-4 DEs.? We may be “switching” but that doesn’t guarantee success.

So you think a D grade is fine as long as He doesn’t have question about our scheme?

I strongly disagree with a D grade.  But if someone else wants to make the grade, thats on them.

Minus Burns, I still disagree with the extremism of the assessments, but I can at least see where he is coming from.  Has Little played soft?  Yes.  But he has also played amazing and many people (not just Panthers) had him at a much higher grade.

If someone wanted to say Finley > Grier..I would still disagree but I would at least acknowledge it could go either way.

Stidham > Grier is a joke.

Over all, I don't think Grier was a "mega reach".  He probably lasted less than a full round from where we picked.

My only real issue is grading the Burns pick badly because how the Panthers might use him in the future.

Grades given after the draft should be tittled “how team _____ drafted vis a vis MY big board”.  Everyone rated players differently, so it’s obvious that each would have varied grades. The Panthers board said they got 2 first rounders and their board is what counts.  Should they fire their scouts and subscribe to ESPN so they could come closer to  having a high grade by these talking heads.  This is all just a crock designed to generate viewership and pay the bills.

Incredibly odd to me that McShay had Little rated as the 8th best overall player in the draft in December, but now views him as a horrible selection...  I'd love to know what happened between the time college games ended and now to build this fire of hate against the kid...  This way, no matter what the kid does in the pros, McShay (and Kiper too) can claim they had it right all along...  Welcome to click-bait journalism, Todd...

8. Greg Little, OT, Ole Miss*

Grade: 92 | Height: 6-6 | Weight: 325 | Previous: 8

The onetime top high school offensive tackle in the nation, Little has carried it over into SEC play. A smooth mover for his size, he can be outstanding in pass protection if he gets a little better with his hands. He has good quickness as a run-blocker and takes smart angles, though he's not a mauler.

But now as of this weekend, also has his grade as a 75, and not a 92 as he did during the college season...
