Gettleman is getting absolutely destroyed by national media... STILL

Amused is more like it, primarily because a lot of the anti-Gettleman stuff comes from some of our less than football savvy posters.

(many of the comments in this thread are no exception)

White nights like yourself can be amusing too, such as when you recently rode into a thread to chide me for so savagely pointing out that we were going to a 3-4 defense :)

You calling anyone else a white Knight is , which makes me :). Nice try, kid. :shades:

Ego and long-term success in the NFL generally go hand-in-hand.

What are your thoughts on a large contract for a guy with a surgically repaired (twice) shoulder?

One surgical repair. One cleanup.

One player is good. The other not

Depends on performance this year. If he performs mediocre and cant complete a pass over 30 yards, it's time to let him go. I don't think Cam should be the highest paid QB in the nfl, shoulder surgery or not. If someone else wants to give him 30m a year, franchise him and trade. One player can't eat up that much cap without crippling the team financially, even if its Cam.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but Gettleman might have been scouting Daniel Jones since he was the Panthers GM. Jones went to Charlotte Latin. I’m not sure where Dave’s kids went to school or if they were close to Daniels age but it seems likely Gettleman has been scouting him for a long time.

Not reading the entire thread, but the debate in the first few pages was Gettlemen vs Hurney. One of the things I've never seen brought up in comparing their impact picks is the years they were GM.

Gettlemen was the GM for 5 drafts. Hurney was GM for double that... a decade from 2002-2012... of course he picked more high impact players, he had double the amount of years to do it. Not to mention often higher picks as well. Doesnt mean I think Gettlemen did a great job when he was here though.

Gettleman isn't just an egomaniac, he's a dumbass and he's proud of it. He doesn't know how to do his job, but is going to do it his way no matter how detrimental it is and doesn't care that he's terrible. It's his way no matter what.

He has his strengths and isnt down right terrible.

I don't think he would have have survived long under Tepper either though. I think his style would have rubbed Tepper the wrong way as much or more ryan Richardson.

i don't really think he has strengths.  i think he has played himself, again.  i think anyone can come into a bad cap situation and understand financially what needs to be done, because it's clear.  it's what you were hired to do.  it's easy.  after that he had nothing, and he still has nothing.
