I know he says that, but there's just no way around subbing 1 or 2 guys. I know Addison would have to come out for Butler in the 3-4 at least.

Why would Addison come out for Butler?

Addison is going to be a OLB and Butler is going to be either NT or DE.

Remember, it may take the better part of a season to really get this together.

Of course, we have one of the best MLBs to ever play the game on the field to play defensive QB and keep everyone straightened out.

Really looking forward to that first real game...

We didn’t draft him 16th overall to play just third downs. He’ll learn, bulk up and get there by week 1

Ron stopped short of saying Burns would start, said he would be part of the rotation. Maybe it’s just Ron being Ron.

Doesn't mean much but all the players from last year are still listed at thier normal positions. Addison at DE, short at Dt..ect.. However Miller, Irvin and Burns are all listed as LB/DE on the teams roster.

Hybrid D

3-4DE: KK, Butler

NT: Poe, Love

SDE: Addison, Obada, Cox Jr

OLB: Burns, Miller

MLB: Luke, Smith

ILB: Shaq, Carter

OLB: Irving, Haynes

Went back and watched some from the later games in the season. They moved Addison all over the place. De, ilb, olb. Used peppers as the NT some, Rivera got pretty damn creative. Makes me excited what he can do with Irvin, Burns, Miller and Addison.

In our base defense I don't think Burns will start. I'd say Irvin and Mario will the the OLBs in the base 3-4.

Burns will be in for pass rushing downs unless he shows he can play the run. Same goes for Miller.

We still will probably look to sign a vet 3-4 DE but right now I'd say Poe and Butler are the NTs, Love and Short DEs. There are like 4 other DTs on the roster currently who will fight to fill in depth / PS.

Cox will probably be tried at DE and the other guys who played 4-3 end last year will get their shot at OLB. Guys like Haynes and Obada probably have a better shot succeeding as 3-4 OLBs anyways.

Aren't all downs passing downs in today's NFL?
