Well this means Grier is going to be a great QB because a lot of you are usually dead wrong on our picks, whether you like them or not.... a lot of you loved Daeshon Hall, hated CMC pick, loved Butler, hated Daryl Williams pick, and so on and so on. Don’t pretend you know any more than the Panthers scouts and coaches, the draft is 100% a crapshoot and you just hope to get lucky

Nobody loved Butler pick and nobody hated Williams pick. And only 1 person you mentioned has actually did anything substantial since they were drafted

To be fair, Williams isn’t as good as what some think. His “all pro” yeah, Dickson was surgically attached to his hip helping him all year. Plus RB chips out the ass.

Somebody bookmark this thread.  When Cam shoulder problems arise again and doctors say he needs to take a year off like Luck, then Grier comes in and puts up amazing numbers and leads us to the playoffs, we'll see who the wine and cheese crowd is.

Guys pick #100 is not really a 3rd, the 3rd round ends at 96, we basically took Grier at the top of the 4th as the comps are added after the traditional end of the designated round. Most guys here with decent rationale were good with Grier as long as it was at 100 or later, and if we liked Grier & with NE right after us this was the place to pull the trigger.

Good teams have drafted backups in the 2nd, 3rd, and later even with other holes to fill -- look at Pittsburgh (Landry, Hobbs, Rudolph) of that trio if memory serves Hobbs, was a 5th, while the other two were both 3rd round selections.

There are still good safety prospects available, we have the 13th pick tomorrow, and then 154 & 187. We have the ammo to move up if needed to target a safety if that is the plan, and there are still FA options available if needed.

Exactly idk if anyone else noticed but Pats was right behind us and when we picked Grier they traded their pick. He was not lasting till 115. Way to go Hurney!!!

Good a QB that passes the football. Sounds like Tom Brady

I'm pretty sure Tom doesn't give up that many negative plays. If that stat is true then the kid clearly doesn't know how to either escape pressure, or get rid of the ball — much unlike Tom.

Actually it would, most teams miss on the majority of picks after the first two rounds. Draft success rate for first rounders is only 50% over the last 15-20 years. If you look at his overall draft record, he's close to the top and that's counting the awful drafts he had in 2009 and 2010. 7+ probowlers during his first stint.

Citation needed, he isn't close to the top.

If he was anything even top 5 he'd have been offered a spot immediately after being canned. Funny how no one even so much as mentions his name in football nevermind even being a top GM or poo even a GM at all. When GMan was here you heard about him and from other people in the media and poo as if he's done something. And that is GMan lol....

Didnt love the pic... But, if Cam goes down of course Grier won't lead us to the playoffs, but thats not a backups job. What if Cam just misses a couple games, that's when it's important to have a legitimate backup, that way he can come in and keep us afloat.

And what did Ryan Mallet did in the NFL?

Now think about that and add in the Pats won how many superbowls by that time. The amount of success to that point

Now compare that to the Panthers. A franchise still chasing its 1st ring

Forrest. Trees. If you thought that was an argument for the success of Ryan Mallet I don't know what to tell you. It was Belichick kicking the tires of a high potential backup, which he does a decent amount. Which we're now doing, with an injured QB, for the first time in 8 years.

Grier wasn't drafted to be our starting QB now, and probably not even in the future.  He's drafted to be a competent backup, maybe turn him into trade bait, maybe win a game or two if Cam's hurt. People are losing their minds, because a backup QB was drafted, in essentially the 4th round.  We pick again soon, where we can grab a WR, CB, FS, DT, etc. We also have a second, and third wave of FA to get through.

Again, people are freaking out and treating this as a team breaking decision when a Rashaan Gaulden type pick is what we're talking about. I would've rather they waited to get Grier, but complaining about it being pick 100 is kinda insanity.
