He bites on play action if I recall and QBs have lead him away from plays easily.

Welp, safety run just happened. And we already have a third round safety on the roster, give him a chance to play. The position isn't that valuable. I'd be more interested to see if we go corner in the next few rounds.

Gardner-Johnson has starting FS potential. Let’s hope he keeps falling. Thompson is also an option but needs to be coached up. I just don’t know if I’ll pass on some DL help for Thompson.

He got exposed. If he didnt play for Alabama, he would be a 5th or 6th rounder.

It's a hole, but it's not the most difficult hole to fill, if the Panthers want to. The safety position is so undervalued that good quality starters are on the market every off-season.

I'm just glad they filled a holes at arguably the second and third hardest positions to find in the NFL.

It’s not difficult to fill poorly, which is what we’ve done for years. Defense needs ints. Our FSs are always old and slow or converted SS. Defense has been missing a true FS for a while

I think the ship has sailed on safety for the most part. I thought maybe with the Reid signing that we had moved past this "the Panthers don't value safeties" scuttlebutt was going to be behind us. Clearly there is something to this.

I’m actually more into a CB that is versatile enough to slide back into a FS spot sometimes
