 Sign Whitworth instead of Turnstilalil.

2012 Draft

 Don’t trade a 2013 3rd round pick for Joe Adams. When that pick could/would have been Terron Armstead. Or Keenan Allen. 

 2012-13 off-season

Hire Norv Turner(who was just fired as HC in SD) instead of Shula. He went to CLE as OC. Hard to believe we couldn’t provide a better opportunity than the Browns.

I was floored when Igo didn't mention pat-a-cake Matt's contract as his #1 mistake.

Also, more damning than releasing Smitty, IMO, was the whole Bell, Chandler debacle. 

EDIT: pretty much anything we've done at tackle since Gross retired (Williams and Moton excluded) has been a shitshow!

Michael Oher did fine. So did Moton before he was stupidly replaced by Frank Clark.

Releasing Smitty wasn't a huge mistake. We went to the playoffs, then the super bowl without him. 

He's my all time favorite player, but it wasn't a bad move. The bad move was trying to get Benjamin to replace him. Should have drafted Allen Robinson instead.

Why not prevent Mike Shula from becoming OC, stop the hiring of Marty Hurney (either time), or hell, keep us from picking Rae Carruth?

We didn't go to the playoffs/SB just because we shipped off Steve Smith.

Did any of you guys watch Panthers football before 2015 or what? When it was Steve and Cam, our defense was essentially swiss cheese more often than not. Finally the defense began to come into their own after he left. Certainly you could argue offensively there was some kind of difference, but to just sidestep the fact that our defense made a huge leap is just being disingenuous.

And let's just be absolutely brutally honest here. What did we do at WR after Steve left? We drafted two busts early, and the best deep threat we fielded was a journeyman WR with suspect hands in Ted Ginn who saw a career resurgence with Cam Newton.

Steve Smith's final season with this team was in 2013. It's 2019 and we just now have a WR in DJ Moore who looks like he has similar playmaking ability.

I stand corrected. Oher was solid on the left. He slipped my mind. G-man signed him to a bargain, 2 year $7 million contract to. One of his best moves. FWIW, the 1 year (after Gross retired) that we had a solid LT, we went to the SB.
