What would you offer the 9ers for Solomon Thomas?

I think I'd do a fourth. Usually fourth round and beyond those picks are just lottery tickets anyways. Sure Thomas hasn't looked good so far, but there's still a reason he was a consensus top 10 pick 2 years ago and we need DL help. I think that's worth a lottery ticket still

Given price tag on his contract that Carrie's the 5th year option I'd offer a 4th or 5th. I like him more as a 43 LE, and can play in the 34 fronts as well.

Would be a solid addition. As a 34 DE sacks gonna be more difficult to come by as that's the OLB role, I'd say a new opportunity could be what he needs.

Not a lot of 34 DEs racking up sacks. Mike Daniels in Greenbay comes to mind, no one else right off the top Malik Jackson back in Denver.

Donald led the league in sacks. You can say his role and technique is unique in their 3-4 but that's what they use and that's where he lines up.

JJ Watt was second in sacks and plays a more true version of 3-4 end.

Chris Jones was 3rd. Another 3-4 DE

Ahhh Draft Time, it's the pro football equivalent of trying to trying to trade away all the bad "As Seen on TV" products you've bought in the last five years.

"Hey, I've got some great Spray and Seal here, hardly used but when I did it worked great! Third rounder and I'll throw in a can of Spray on Hair (don't get the two confused)?? Anyone, anyone? How about this InstantPot? Used twice, works great! Looks like new, $85 in the store. I'll give it to you for a second rounder! People love these things! Okay, how about you mow my yard for it? Okay, how about you just take it home with you and get it out of my house for me? Slap-Chop anyone?"

Bad decisions, bad gifts and late-night purchases are all going on the trading block right now. Let's just politely, but firmly, pass on them. Okay?

Donald is an end in their 34 but on passing downs he still plays the three and is not on the edge, so I can't go with that as his name was made on his production in a 4-3 until Wade showed up and moved them to a 3-4 BUT he still played inside for the Nickel and Dime packages.

JJ Watt may be the exception as similar to Donald he's a freak of nature / talent and to degrees both can flourish in and out.

Thomas along with many others are victims of environments when they are not transitional talents like the above they show that they need to be in the right fit.

I think Thomas needs to be out on the edge flanking interior lineman.

Players like Watt, Donald, Von Miller, Julius Peppers, etc... forget about the scheme. Just put them on the field and they're going to make great things happen. That's why they're all-time greats. Von Miller put up huge numbers early in his career playing in John Fox's 4-3.

I've always said that good coaches can win when given the players to perfectly fit their system, but great coaches can fit their systems to the players that they have. The same is true for players. Good players can flourish if they're put in the right situation, but great players will flourish no matter the situation.
