If the Panthers trade up in the first round of the draft....

I guarantee you that there will be a number of eventual AllPros and probably some HOFers at sixteen and later.  It’s Hurneys job to identify these players.  Having a top fifteen pick is almost irrelevant in the bigger picture.  Look at it this way, once we get to sixteen we have the number one pick in the draft and then the number one pick of the next  round of 32, etc.

What's funny is no one blames us for a worthless stat padding win claiming we should try to win them all, yet place no blame on a Saint team who rolled over and played dead. That glorious win moved us from 9 to 16 and it cant be mentioned enough.

That because that whole conspiracy theory is BS. That game was supposed to be Bridgewater's coming out party at home where the successor to Brees was crowned. The Saint defense was largely intact for a good part of the game and except for  Brees, Thomas and Kamara the offense started out with lots of starters.  They tried and got beat by a backup quarterback and lots of second stringers.

But the bigger issue is that no coach will tell players to tank a game for draft position. It disrespects the players especially the ones working hard to make the roster this year based on their only start last season.

So because it just isn't done, talking about being stupid because we didn't do it just shows how ignorant the posters are who keep bringing it up. So not only shouldn't it be talked about, bringing it up repeatedly just amplifies the poster's stupidity about football.

I would never want a culture where we play to lose just to get a better draft pick.  I want every player on that field every Sunday to play like their career depended on it.  If we set the precedent in week 17 that losing is ok so long as we get a higher (not necessarily better) draft selection, then what message do we send to all these players we sign to incentive laden contracts.  “Hey...you have a chance to his these benchmarks if you play hard...well...unless we are eliminated from playoff contention, then we want you to play like poo and put the teams draft position before your financial interests.

Hell..just look at how many top 5 picks the Lions and Browns have screwed up Over the years.

Yea RR should have told the guys go out and lose for a better pick even though some are playing there last game(ever or just here). That higher pick means nothing to guys like TD, Pep or guys fighting just to stay in the NFL. We may have found a back up QB also and saved a pick(you never know).

I hear ya from a fan perspective.

But from a team and organization standpoint bro you jut can’t ask a player to lay down and lose .

Cmon man .

Keep Pounding means nothing to some people on here. (Not meaning you)

Counter argument to your counter argument.

Losing mentality is a communicable disease. People say what they will about Rivera . (Much of it true) he won’t lay down though, I promise you that.

Totally agree.

But like I've said before, as a fan it's frustrating to watch Ron try to coach the team by humping a doorknob only to have him realize what the hell was needed to fix the sinking ship last game of the season while any hope of the playoffs was lost.

Loser mentality at its finest.

Yep.

I try not to hold that “fan” perspective against them if I can. Never being on a team or playing in anything competitive does that to a person.

The 1% that make it to the NFL don’t lay down so easy . Not that hard to understand.
