If the Panthers trade up in the first round of the draft....

If the Panthers end up trading up in the first round of the draft, then what the hell was the point of trying to win in Week 17 against the Saints? They could have bumped up 6-7 draft spots by losing that game. I will be furious if they trade up and lose out of more picks after Ron decided to go balls to the wall against an obviously trying to lose Saints team.

I have been cautiously optimistic about Hurney 2.0 but this would solidify in my eyes that a zebra can't change its stripes.

I swear to God if I hear one more person mention us winning week 17 against the Saints I'm going to explode. Leave last season in last season. I'll never complain about winning. Especially against that trash organization. First round is loaded with talent. I don't care what we do. Just come away with an impact difference maker and call it a night

What's funny is no one blames us for a worthless stat padding win claiming we should try to win them all, yet place no blame on a Saint team who rolled over and played dead. That glorious win moved us from 9 to 16 and it cant be mentioned enough.

Counter argument:

The Rams won their second to last game of the season in 2010 removing them from contention for a top 10 pick.

JJ Watt was taken at #11. They took Robert Quinn instead.

Pretty sure they would trade that one win for JJ Watt.

Couldn't be said enough actually. And there is no leaving last season in last season when the draft is based on how you did last season so that was stupid.

Nothing could be more appropriate to talk about actually, especially if he trades up.

I hear ya from a fan perspective.

But from a team and organization standpoint bro you jut can’t ask a player to lay down and lose .

Cmon man .

Keep Pounding means nothing to some people on here. (Not meaning you)

Counter argument to your counter argument.

Losing mentality is a communicable disease. People say what they will about Rivera . (Much of it true) he won’t lay down though, I promise you that.

Still waiting for one of those jackoffs to tweet @ a player for winning and not getting the 9th pick in the first round

    • Hey guys, remember when we won those meaningless games in 2010 and it cost us the #1 pick and the chance to draft Cam? Oh.... right I get that's more of an extreme example because it got us a HOF caliber QB.  But it's the general concept, you want to win late season games when you have the pieces in place to make a run the next season, we currently are not in that place. Herbert and Sewell are the ones I point to so much, because we literally lost out on 2 franchise different makers by 1 draft slot.  Give us those two players while we still have CMC, Moore, and the rest of the picks we gave up for Bryce, and we'd have been a legit playoff contender the last few years. Draft position matters in the NFL more than any other sport (other than the #1 pick in the NBA in a year with a generational talent).
    • It’s so crazy. If we had a shot for pick 1 and there was some generational player there then yeah maybe I could get behind the draft position argument. I’d say most GMs and coaches aren’t diving into the draft right now. They are trying to win games.
