This is a more low risk/ high reward situation than using a number 2 on a less talented player who if all goes well won’t see the field anyway.  If all goes according to plan Rosen or Grier would never get to show anything in actual Game situations.  But if god forbid one has to play sooner than later who would you rather ride with? The vet with NFL experience or an unknown commodity?

The flip side is if Cam is healthy Rosen is gone by the start of next season and his stock might recoup his lost value and could net us a first rounder.  Yes he is outspoken but, it’s not like we haven’t had To deal with Smitty, Josh Norman and so on in the past. I don’t even think he’s as bad as those guys. An added value is you are also Keeping your number 2 in this scenario so there is value there in getting another starter. Easily the more desired outcome.

A guy who might be bad is not as risky as a guy you know is bad.

Rosen is the better passer and has a stronger arm more accurate and decision maker. Your just blurting our what you assume to be true. Anybody in their right mind would rather have Rosen and there second rounder* than waste it on Grier who by all likely hood shouldn’t see the field.

Arizona was also an indisputable dumpster fire. You can't honestly watch Rosen's college tape and Grier's college tape and truly believe Grier is a better prospect

You guys really gotta stop with the "tape" stuff. Nobody here as seen a damn second of All-22 or anything related to these guys. I get what you're saying, but it's inherently wrong and has been proven already. Rosen is a slightly better Jimmy Clausen.

Thank you. Nobody here is grading any "tape".

My Friends who are Panther fans  who didn't wanted to draft Newton

Lets build around Clausen he just needs a better team

Lets draft Ryan Mallet in the 2nd hes the best QB in this draft

Grier isn’t promised to be a good player either, might be as bad or worse plus cost me a second round pick. So you have to weigh this as a whole. Would you rather have a young maybe bad guy and who cost you a 3rd or a young maybe bad guy who cost you a 2nd?

Rosen would be the number one pick in this bad qb class and Grier isn’t even in the first round. Do some research.

Rosen's rookie year wasn't "maybe bad". It was just bad.

If my choices are between a guy who might look bad in the NFL and a guy who already has, I'm taking the first option.

Trade up to spend a top ten pick on a QB

The very next season shopping him for a 3rd...same GM red flag 24hnbr GIF by ADAC TOTAL 24h Nürburgring

I think this is More about the coach the gm highered.. He has been high on Murray and recruiting him for over 20 years. If your coach says he need this guy to run and he’s a better fit for his system you do it. A first rounder isn’t setting you back like the old days. Not to say Rosen is bad he just isn’t the coaches guy or a fit for his system.

The GM shouldve been looking for a coach that compliments his Franchise QB

Thats if you believe he's the franchise Qb.. If hes being shopped  i guess they didn't

Umm not sure it always works that way. Players fail all the time. If you hire a coach you allow him to win with his guys.. you don’t say win with this kid we drafted last year or your fired.
