Im done. Im not going to debate with a kid using emoji's. Keep playing Madden kid.

I'm in my 50s and don't own a video game console.

Again, you're arguing what you want to happen and trying to spin it into reality, but what you want has no effect on anything. I'm arguing what could happen and factoring in what the Panthers have been doing in the offseason. It has nothing to do with what I want. It's an educated guess based on what I see.

Could be right, could be wrong. I won't care either way.

It's actually what you don't understand. And unfortunately, that's a lot.

One: Ron Rivera and Marty Hurney are not guaranteed their jobs next season. That's also true are the rest of the coaching staff as well as others. There is no "aaah, wait till next year" when you're not assured of your job.

Two, the Panthers exist to win games as a team, not as a platform for Cam Newton. If Newton goes down, you don't tell the rest of the team "too bad". You still make the absolute best effort to go out and win this year.

Three, as has been stated many times, it's the position of backup quarterback that needs to be addressed. Grier is one option, not the only one. It's not about getting a certain player. It's about getting a player that can effectively man that spot. Whether you agree or not, the Panthers may believe Grier is that guy.

Four, let's say Newton does bounce back and his backup sits behind him for the next five years. How in the world would you see that as something negative?

Oy :eyeroll:

Look, I understand what you're saying. Just don't see where Grier gives you the best chance to win if cam goes down. If I'm Rivera/Hurney and I have to win this year to keep my job, I am not relying on a 2nd round rookie as the primary back up.

The team's long-term future will take a hit if we don't get Grier. I don't give a flying fvck who disagrees because pooing it just confirms their idiocy. Grier has a great arm, a quick release, he's mature and he's a natural-born leader. Celebrate if you want when we don't pick Grier, but I doubt you'll celebrate much when he's an all-pro for someone else.

I promise you Tepper isn't sitting back with the attitude that if Cam isn't 100% we will tank and wait until next year. And he is giving everyone their marching orders. He wants a plan to win with or without Cam and drafting a QB is a big part of the plan. We don't know who is going to be available at QB next year or where we will pick. So we are going to pick someone at sometime in this draft who we think will be better than who we have now.

Frankly I am paying off my season tickets for this year which is a big crimp in the budget. But I buy them with the expectation that we are going to try and win every game and I think there are 62,000 other folks expecting the same. I don't understand the loser mentality of tanking and wonder why the same people who don't want mediocrity aren't outraged when they read this crap about being okay with tanking for a high draft next year BS.

If Cam’s shoulder is really that done we won’t need to tank to get a better QB prospect than Will Grier.

Maybe he does. Maybe he doesn't. Again, that's not what I'm arguing.

This isn't my attempt at predicting the future. It's a look at interpreting the present. And part of the present is that the team is looking hard at Grier and there's plenty of chatter the Panthers could take him in the second.

If they do, then yeah they believe in him. Whether they're right or wrong to do so, we'll see.

Yeah I apologize if you are 50. I thought with you using emoji's you were younger. As for the debate we will agree to disagree. We will see if this is just a rumor or we have real interest come Friday.

I've seen plenty of indication that the interest is genuine.

Doesn't mean we'll pick him, but I absolutely believe we'll pick a quarterback at some point.

I think folks overestimate Cam's value in this system. Cam had to do it all in years past but with this offense he needs to hand it off and throw passes 20 yards or less 90% of the time. As long as the QB can uncork an occasional deep ball and learn to read defenses he will be good here. Allen really did a good job against the Saint starting defense and that was without some of our offensive starters for much of the game.

That’s fair but you’re making my case. If QB1 is easily replaceable why are we using a high pick on a backup instead of a starter at a needed position that would make us even more QB-proof. Unless the outlook on Cam is grim or Grier looks like an all-time prospect it doesn’t make sense.

A second rounder isn't that high for a QB given how important they are to any offense. Let's be real here, neither Shaq or Butler did much for us and we spent ones on them. It didn't really hurt us so what is the panic. Quarterbacks in the second or third round are high reward if they hit and not high risk if they bust.

I think drafting someone is much cheaper than spending 15 million on a veteran backup. I think you overvalue a 2nd round pick as all that precious.  Obviously if they pick Grier they are saying they think he fits well in our system and is better than any backups we have. As I said earlier, Tepper is in win now mode and anyone who doesn't share that will be gone soon enough.

Not true at all. The guys on the field were trying and their defense was definitely trying at home. They got embarrassed and this was supposed to be their back up quarterback's debut to replace Brees.

Omg ur crazy dude. They did not care at all, no way they was trying to win that game LMAO.
