What I don't understand is how 38 year old Eli Manning remains teflon in that organization throughout all this.

Compare that to how our fanbase is treating 29 year old Cam Newton.

Even Eli has said that he full expects the Giants to draft a QB in the 1st round. Gettleman is trying to be sly but no one is buying it. Hell, Igo told us that Shaq and Butler were gonna be our picks.

All those years of Eli declining, and this is the draft they choose to search for a franchise QB?

Oof.

Well to be fair while Eli has regressed he does have two super bowl wins.

That buys lots of patience. I didn't give the hurricanes grief about missing the playoffs for 10 years because they at least have a cup.

Rings can make a difference no doubt. But the last time the Giants made any kind of deep playoff push was what, 7 years ago?

You think this fanbase would sit by if we were in that scenario while Cam was the QB, and we had just jettisoned one of the most productive wide receivers in the NFL in his prime while our QB remains one of the highest paid in the league?

Eli Manning has been protected by his last name more than anything let's just be honest. That began from the word go before he was even drafted when he made it clear to the Chargers not to draft him. You think Cam, who was absolutely skewered for his innocuous icon and entertainer comments, would get the same pass if he had made demands like that on draft day?

Whew!  I hesitated to click because I was worried that this might be a porno from Toomer's  private collection.

Boy you really do turn into complete douche-bag when someone proves you completely ignorant on a subject. Maybe you should have stayed in that thread and made your case instead of taking shots in random threads because your pride is hurt.

And considering you were claiming Gettleman left an “escape with zero dead money” and I was defending what Hurney did, what exactly was your point here? Or explain your original BS statement? Or just continue taking shots and I’ll stand by what you said(and didn’t say).

    • Just had Thanksgiving meal with a couple dozen family and friends. I lucked out and got one of the smoked turkey legs. Stuffing, mashed taters and gravy, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, kale, smoked ham, chicken and rice, corn, lima beans, cranberry sauce, and great people. My brother got his guitar out and we got to singing. Lots of actual conversations with people I hardly  ever get to see, haven't seen in a while, or who I never met before. Just a great moment to remember.
    • 3-8 would be a higher win percentage than 3-9
    • Same... With the personnel the Niners had, that defense could have been historically good in the right hands. Under Wilks they were certainly good, they didn't quite rise to that level. Honestly, I see Wilks kinda like I see Rivera: fantastic person, decent head coach. Skill wise, phenomenal DB coach, so-so DC. His greatest strength is his leadership. Hard to find many better in that department. In the Xs and Os / execution area though, not as good. Bottom Line: Wilks is the sort of coach that needs a staff that excels in those aspects of the game where he's weaker. But, like Rivera, I don't know that he scouts assistants very well. That as much as anything might be why he's not in the NFL now.
