His career.  Even watch his highlight reel... 50/50 over the top balls where WR bails his ass out.

Riiiight.

For the record, Grier had a phenomenal game against Tennessee. Threw something like five touchdowns and generated a lot of Heisman talk.

I gave you a specific instance to show you're BSing about having watched his career. I'm guessing you're probably just parroting what you've heard someone else say but you claim to have watched him so it doesn't sound like that.

You asked me about TN game and I said career.  You have trouble reading?  Look, I know your homer instincts are kicking in but Grier is not good.  All analysts say he’s not good and likely will never be a good fit for NFL...

I gave you a piece of misinformation to see if you'd catch it. You didn't. You don't have any specifics because you haven't watched him.

Now, I'm sure you could go look up some things now to try to make it sound like you did, but you've already established that you're just BSing.

it's actually okay to say that you're just going by what you've read, but when you try to claim you've watched everything yourself when you really haven't, you just set yourself up to look bad.

Don't wanna get called on BS? Don't BS.

Like I said, I have no idea whether the Panthers will draft Grier and I'll be good either way because I trust Norv Turner when it comes to quarterbacks (ditto any other QB they're looking at) but this whole "Clausen 2.0" rant you're going on is a little silly.

Backups make about what PKs do. That’s not where you make a money-value move. You could sign McCown or Josh Johnson for 2M or less.

He could look like the real deal or he could be no different than Kyle Allen with those weapons. He could be just like the majority of post first round QBs and be awful. Lot of questions for an idea being passed off as a no-brained.

Josh Johnson isn’t the answer, we went down that road before. McCown is like 40 years old. If you have the right staff, you draft and develop QBs. If the Turners like what they see in him, they will pull the trigger. I’m not saying he is a sure thing. Cam wasn’t a sure thing at pick 1, but the draft is always going to be a gamble.

No backup is the answer 90% of the time. Starters go down and the season is over. There aren’t 32 good starters right now. So what do you think any backup is going to do. And a raw, rookie usually does poor in any situation.

Cam goes down. Grier plays below average as most do to finish the season. We have a top 6 pick. You passing on Justin Herbert, Tua, Fromm, etc and rolling with Grier?

And what position do we ignore for this insurance policy?

They did? Who did we draft?

Ask me again in a week.

It's been reported since early in the offseason that the Panthers thought it would be better to draft a quarterback than sign a veteran (money is probably part of that) but it hasn't just been abstract talk. They've actually put in work toward checking out a group of quarterbacks since then, with Ian Rapoport mentioning that they put "significant time" into Will Grier.

Had it been me, I probably would have taken a look at a veteran like a Josh McCown type, but this is a valid option as well and all indications are this is how the Panthers are going to proceed.

Guess we'll see.

That’s the thing....

Hurney/Rivera could have actually learned to play the game and not get played. It could be a great smokescreen. I would wonder why we would be letting the world know we want a QB. But that scenario is a little too “hopeful” on my part instead of reality.

Possibly. I think "the game" is overrated, honestly. Other teams know what we need. It's not like it's a matter of national security.

And frankly, I'd really hate to think we wasted time scouting and interviewing players just to set up a smokescreen.
