I mean, my point was he wasn’t an NFL QB.  I know Marty picked Cam but he was clearly the top player.

Clausen didn't belong in our offense, but I'll always wonder if he might have succeeded with a team that ran a WCO.

Doesn't really help that the coaching staff at the time he was drafted never successfully developed any quarterback that played under them.

Nope. Just another false comment. Whatever helps the narrative. My bad for introducing facts into your rant. I’ll know better next time.

Shut up. Nobody  is violating you.  You are going to be OK--you are just trying to troll. I was referring to the conversion of salary to bonus, making it tough to cut him. Nobody  was trying to deceive you for some unknown reason.  What a petty little person you are.

Would be a solid backup, something we really need.

I wish everyone understood that! He is solid and we need it if Cam can't make it through season. I don't want my team to suck for a high pick the next year. I want to win dammit!

That's your opinion.. If we suck and Cam is done I want to be in place to draft 1 of the "better" QB'S  in the "Better" QB's draft next year.. Instead wasting the next 10 years on a Alex Smith, Andy Dalton type game manager.. A solid Backup could be develop from a 4th thru 6th round pick..

I think we can all agree that this team needs a true backup QB, one that can be developed into a potential starter if that day ever comes. In my opinion it's something this team has neglected to do for a few years now. We hung on to Derek Anderson a few years too long and wouldn't be in this position if we had drafted a developmental guy 2-3 yrs ago. I remember we had people on here 3 yrs ago clamoring for Dak Prescott saying he would be a great backup for Cam. So what makes this year so different? Is it just the rumor that they will take a QB in the 2nd?

I'm in favor of drafting a developmental QB. Is it Grier? I don't know. I'd take my chances with a guy like Jordan Ta'amu in the 4th round rather than Grier in the 2nd.

And how were we ever getting out for 0$. And if we didn’t choose the bonus option, the 7.5M would already be gone last year. Still leaving 7.2M to cut him. At least we still can use the money if needed.

Either learn the details if you’re going to use it as an example of something or pick something you know more about. No trolling. You made a completely false statement about an escape and zero dead money. I corrected you. You seem to have gotten upset.

Does this make me an adversary?

Going to disagree. If we have to wait for the third to pick Dline we are absolutely fuged as far as pass rush this year. It’ll take time for anyone the to make a big enough impact right away which we desperately need. Unless we add something good in FA or do something unsuspecting. It’s not relying on a rookie, it’s having better talent to work with and mold, that’s the difference.

I really don’t think Grier will last past the second round and I wouldn’t want him unless he’s a value pick and falls.

Again if we are counting on a rookie to generate our pressure we are screwed already. Plus a 3-4 scheme doesn't count on players winning 1 on 1 matchups, it counts on the scheme to get pressure based on misdirection of where the rush is coming from.

It's incredible there's so much buzz around the Panthers taking a QB as early as round 2, both on a local and national level. This is a team that does not have a natural LT on their roster and will have to manufacture pressure on defense. Those needs must be addressed.

As not great as that is, taking a QB in the second, if Newton goes down this year is finished. Neither of the two kids on the roster are not the answer.

I would not be at all surprised if it’s OT in rd 1 and Grier in Rd two.  The rest of the draft, defense

just depends on how it falls.

One question. Other than Peppers, how many rookie defensive ends made a big splash and really helped our team with sacks and pressures? Not who in the league but in our 23 years who came in as a rookie DE and tore it up?

Then why is getting an edge rusher so important if he won't make a huge difference this year.
