Opinion:Why Gary should be the pick if he falls

Michigan had the #2 defense in the NCAA. So much for their scheme sucking. Gary just didn't produce much for them.

Every single year these type of guys with great measurables but mediocre production get hyped to high heavens leading up to the draft. They bust far more often than not.

Lol you think their number 2 defense has nothing to do with Gary? Disruption is production. Teams that played Michigan accounted for Gary first and ran away from him if they could.

I wouldnt pick Winovich or Gary at 16

Trade back get Win late first or early 2nd if the Pats dont grab him

Safe to say I disagree with a lot of your opinions, win is not better than Gary nobody at 16 is better at what we need than Gary. You could make a case for Burns, I would be ok with. But don’t sell me Ferrell or winovich any other guys below Oliver,Allen, bosa,or Oliver. Because I’m gonna ask you where are they better than Gary at... your gonna say well the stats he had sacks.. so what star didn’t have sacks or any of that but was forced to be accounted for and powered our defense. You see how short looks without him.

that kind of stuff don’t show up on film. Double teams free up others to make plays, and if u don’t account for Gary normal men won’t stop him.

Gary at 16 would be a huge reach but i think the Panthers will be high up on their tippy toes grabbing at prospects come 4/25

I wonder if there  were Jets fans screaming about how good Vernon Gholston was going to be before the draft

I'd be willing to bet that there will be multiple mid-round DEs that end up being better than Gary.

You could say that about anybody but none of them have the upside Gary does. No one in this draft class. Or the versatility to do what we are trying to do. He’s the perfect fit. Yes he’s a huge risk but his risk/ reward could be better than anyone in the draft. Your not getting more than 7-8 sacks at best from a technique specialist like say Ferrell, what could could a guy who is just faster bigger and stronger with the ability to learn those same techniques give you?

Calling him a generational talent in the same breath as saying he has no production is absurd. Hes not even 9n the radar of generational talent.

Your obsession with underwear Olympics is getting to be really predictable.

What are you talking about.. he is a Generational talent. His measurables and size are better than the number one player at his position he is as much a generational talent as clowney who also didn’t produce at the college level.

I have no problem with the reward part its the risks that worries me the Panthers cant take a guy @16 with that low of a floor even with a some what high ceiling.  botch this draft and we will be looking at a new coach and GM looking to rebuild with their own players and schemes

Virtually ever draft bust in the history the NFL had "upside".

I want football players, not workout warriors.

I will say this.  I was watching Chris Simms talk about him.  He said he watched almost every snap he had and Simms has him ranked as his #2 Edge guy.  He talks about how he is the best disrupter  on the Edge this year.  He didn’t have the stats but he blew up a ton of plays and allowed others to make plays.

But his rankings are all over the place.  If he is the pick I sure hope Hurney has a horseshoe handy.

I would love to get a game changer out of this draft.

    • i felt good for those few games that bryce didn't look like the worst in the league. all that fell apart again sunday.  i'm borderline just bailing on it all. i've been hanging on by a thin thread for several years. i mean it's not even fun to watch any football right now.
