Coordinating the game schedules between NFL and MLS isn’t a problem. Atlanta does it.

The problem for Charlotte would be potential turf issues with 2 teams playing on natural turf (Atlanta uses artificial turf).

 

If only there was a stadium inside 485 just begging for a reason to expand to ~30k seats that already has a turf field and the infrastructure in place to sell alcohol in case of scheduling conflicts.

I get why people that did not grow up playing soccer don't like it, they don't grasp the angles, movement without the ball, anticipation, ball control (weight and spin of passes) etc... that goes all into it.  Goals are at a premium, so while games tend not to be high scoring, when one is scored, it's a huge deal! To those folks it looks like a bunch of guys randomly running around a field.  I played soccer from 5 years of age to 19.  That said, the only soccer I really get into is the World Cup.  Again, if this area got a MLS team, I would would be on board in supporting the new club and maybe would go to some games every now and then even though I don't live locally anymore.

No commercials, the game doesn’t stop (constant action. The NFL stops for 40 seconds between plays ffs) and 2 hours as opposed to the long baseball games. Lol everything you have said about it is incorrect. You just don’t like it probably because you think that’s a manly opinion to have or something.

Anyway, I would love it. I’m moving to Europe in October and plan on seeing every Liverpool match I can while I’m there. Would be awesome to return to a team in Charlotte. I would be so stoked

It is not a "good investment" for Tepper.  If he plops down $200 mil for a soccer team it will strictly be a discretionary spend on what is a hobby for him. 

It’s a great investment because the team will worth at least double within 3 years.

...so..shty day in CLT...so i started to run thru the channels...came across a game on 'the premier league'. SOU and NEW...watched for a little while... then i turned the channel to a documentary on the mating habits of the pygmy owl...more action and far more entertainment.... geez..

Likely so. Of the four NFL stadiums that also currently house a MLS team (Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Gillette Stadium, CenturyLink Field, and Dignity Health Sports Park) the only one that has a natural grass field is Dignity Health Sports Park where the Chargers are currently playing and that was only supposed to be for the 2017 and 2018 seasons, later pushed back an additional year when the Inglewood stadium had construction delays. The other 3 are all on FieldTurf Revolution 360 turf.

However, I see Nashville is also in the running for a team that will be holding its games at Nissan Stadium until moving into a soccer specific stadium and the now-defunct Tampa Bay Mutiny used to play at Raymond James Stadium from 1999-2001, so there's two other instances of maybe Bank of America's natural turf being able to hold up?

Southampton and Newcastle, bless their hearts, are at or near the bottom of the English Premier League.

HUGE difference between them and the top of the table.

(Though I have a soft spot in my heart for Newcastle, for a couple of reasons.)
