The MLS plays in September and October with more games and playoffs in November/December.

Coordinating the game schedules between NFL and MLS isn’t a problem. Atlanta does it.

The problem for Charlotte would be potential turf issues with 2 teams playing on natural turf (Atlanta uses artificial turf).

If only there was a stadium inside 485 just begging for a reason to expand to ~30k seats that already has a turf field and the infrastructure in place to sell alcohol in case of scheduling conflicts.

(Im talking about Charlotte 49ers football stadium)

As a young kid, I went to a Lightening game at Memorial stadium in the early 80's.  It was the one and only event I ever went to at that venue.  I would actually get into MLS more if Carolina/Charlotte got a team.  Right now I only watch if there's not anything else on, so rarely.  I personally need to have some skin in the game.  Honestly, if it weren't for the Hornets and the Hurricanes, I probably wouldn't pay any attention to the NBA or NHL

I get why people that did not grow up playing soccer don't like it, they don't grasp the angles, movement without the ball, anticipation, ball control (weight and spin of passes) etc... that goes all into it.  Goals are at a premium, so while games tend not to be high scoring, when one is scored, it's a huge deal! To those folks it looks like a bunch of guys randomly running around a field.  I played soccer from 5 years of age to 19.  That said, the only soccer I really get into is the World Cup.  Again, if this area got a MLS team, I would would be on board in supporting the new club and maybe would go to some games every now and then even though I don't live locally anymore.

when i click on the Carolina Panthers News and Talk...thats what i expect...at least NFL topics...Soccer is like watching a 15 inning baseball game that ends 2-1...it sucks...its has as much action as Pro Bowling...

Do you even off-season, bro?

I would love the PSL/Season tickets, but would be interested in the wording. I think BoA would need MAJOR renovations to keep soccer there long term.  Tepper seems to be hinting at major renovations, so that's nbd, but I do wonder if a soccer specific stadium is in the works. Would hate to buy a PSL in BoA for soccer and then lose it in 5 years because we built a new stadium.

Tepper is going to bring in Soccer so BOA isnt abandoned when the Panthers get their new stadium in Rock Hill in 5 years.

This is astonishingly clueless. We get it. You don’t like soccer. Your uninformed opinions are making that painfully obvious.

No commercials, the game doesn’t stop (constant action. The NFL stops for 40 seconds between plays ffs) and 2 hours as opposed to the long baseball games. Lol everything you have said about it is incorrect. You just don’t like it probably because you think that’s a manly opinion to have or something.

Anyway, I would love it. I’m moving to Europe in October and plan on seeing every Liverpool match I can while I’m there. Would be awesome to return to a team in Charlotte. I would be so stoked

It is small change for Tepper.

It is not a "good investment" for Tepper.  If he plops down $200 mil for a soccer team it will strictly be a discretionary spend on what is a hobby for him.

It’s a great investment because the team will worth at least double within 3 years.

Doesn't move the needle for Tepper.

His "investments" --- on which he expects are" return" --- remain domiciled within Appaloosa.

If he buys a soccer team he's looking at it through the lens of a hobby....same as a really rich guy with a warehouse full of 50 Ferrari's....simple as that.

Ok

Likely so. Of the four NFL stadiums that also currently house a MLS team (Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Gillette Stadium, CenturyLink Field, and Dignity Health Sports Park) the only one that has a natural grass field is Dignity Health Sports Park where the Chargers are currently playing and that was only supposed to be for the 2017 and 2018 seasons, later pushed back an additional year when the Inglewood stadium had construction delays. The other 3 are all on FieldTurf Revolution 360 turf.

However, I see Nashville is also in the running for a team that will be holding its games at Nissan Stadium until moving into a soccer specific stadium and the now-defunct Tampa Bay Mutiny used to play at Raymond James Stadium from 1999-2001, so there's two other instances of maybe Bank of America's natural turf being able to hold up?

Southampton and Newcastle, bless their hearts, are at or near the bottom of the English Premier League.

HUGE difference between them and the top of the table.

(Though I have a soft spot in my heart for Newcastle, for a couple of reasons.)

    • been living in town since March of last year after spending 15+ years out on a farm in the middle of nowhere.  Snow was beautiful out there, but always meant a lot of work dealing with the long driveway and long dirt road out and onto paved roads that were the last in the county to get plowed. On normal days it always took 20 minutes to get anywhere. when it snowed...yeah. forget about it for a couple days. still had to go to work, so i'd have to drive on all these narrow and windy snow covered backroads after dealing with my driveway and putting up with the nasty red mud slush on the dirt road. if there was an emergency or some kind of urgent issue that required you having someone drive in or going out, it was just a major stressor.  anyways, i'm just looking forward to snow in the new house in town, where my driveway is really short and the roads are plowed. i want snow that requires no work or stress on me. most people probably love the idea of being snowed in out in the country. been there. done that. i'm looking forward to snow coming in town and being able to get out and about if i need. hopefully we have some this year.
    • I don't think it will be a complete stomping at all. That's not really the 2024 KC team. They have only scored 30 points once this season(shootout versus TB) and their biggest margin of victory has been 13(vs. the Saints). I guess they clearly show better versus the NFC South but not THAT good. Not by their recent years standard.
