If we are that desperate to "be sure" about the QB position despite any other needs, and having a 100 million dollar QB on the books, why not just go all in and get the best available in the first round?

This discussion is all sunshine and rainbows in April, but if our defense is looking shaky come November, this place will be flooded with rage posts from some of the very same fans who pushed to draft a QB in the first place. Anyone who has been around this fanbase long enough knows this song and dance by now.

right? If QB is such a big need they would draft one in the first, not 2nd. Half this fanbase wrote of cam the second we drafted him though, so

Yeah, that’s a decent point...dunno just don’t like him much.  I might be ok with Finley but not sure he will ever be a starter either.

Agreed, but the hope is that he doesn't become a starter cause that means Cam is on his game. We just need him to be a competent back up that can win games in case Cam goes down a few games. He has missed games the last few years after all.

Then you sure don’t want Stidham. You put him in an NFL game next year and he’s going to go full “Peterman”.  A good arm is diminished by a complete inability to go through progressions, watching the rush, bailing on clean pockets, You better scheme a perfect play for the primary receiver and he still may stare him down into a pick.

His OL sucked. No doubt. But he did the same things in 2017. And they had no SRs  on offense. Darius Slayton will get drafted He dropped about as many as Stidham missed him. A lot of each. The drop in surrounding talent had an effect. But he showed these habits for awhile.

Not even going to get into how he basically only talked to one other player on the team for most of this year. Seems getting engaged to the daughter of the Houston Rockets owner took his edge away.

Nothing new there. Still don't see us taking a QB until day 3 - if the idea is to have a QB come in & develop in our system for a few years, then rounds 4-7 is where we should be taking one.

Then we still end up with a less talented QB running the offense and end up having to move up to draft one in a few years.
