Bill Barnwell speculation: Panthers trade up with Jaguars

The only trade I wouldn't mind seeing in this draft is the one where we trade down for more picks in the first two rounds/top of the third. That's only if the top DEs are off the board, and nothing really jumps out at us as a BPA at that point.

Any instance where we trade up would be flat out stupid.

IDK, I think there is an argument to be made for trading up to get "can't miss" guys like Bosa, Williams, Allen, etc. Maybe even a small trade up for guys like Ed Oliver, Sweat, Gary, etc if you are big believers in them.

But, given our relative needs, I am not going to say it would be a very strong argument.

all this trade up talk I'd rather see a trade down.

I think that just depends on what our board looks like and how the picks fall. Trading up might be the best move and trading down might be the best move. Looooooots of variables with us being at #16.

Congrats on beating Man City.

The only way you even consider something this drastic is for a franchise QB prospect.  Anything else is just lunacy.

Eh...given the prices for elite pass rushers, I am not sure I would agree. The draft capital we would have to give up to get a top tier guy this year is probably well, well past what is reasonable for us. For a minor trade up(1-3 spots) for a guy we loved, it might not be exorbitantly expensive in draft capital to obtain.

As I said, given our varied needs(starting FS, CB2/nickel, backup OL, potential starting LT/RT, potential starting LG, LB, DE, DT, etc) I don't see it as a very reasonable option to give up something like our 2nd and/or 3rd rounders to move up. We will likely need those 2nd and 3rd rounders much more than we will need whoever we would be trading up to get. But I wouldn't say that it would be an outlandish scenario for every team. We probably just aren't that team given the previously listed needs.
