My Carolina mock draft

Verge

Recommended Posts

It would seem to me the Little, Johnson, Rapp pick would signal  a trade back to the twenties. With that extra pick we could pair it with 47 to get a late first/early second or one of our thirds to get back into the second.  Everything I’ve heard is the meat of the draft is in the second/third rounds where there are plenty of potential starters.

Interesting mock. So a lot of mocks have Little dropping to the early second. Why are you high on him especially over Ford. In your scenario would Jonah be gone?

Also why Ford over Burns?

I'm not particularly high on Little, these aren't my rankings, just kind of what I expect to happen. I don't have Little over Ford, but I do expect Little to be a first round guy. Jonah probably goes in the top 10.

Could definitely see a trade back so we can trade back up for Grier. I would imagine we would have to take Little at 16.

Everything I’ve seen on little is that he would be a first not bc of how he played in college, but bc he has the “body” to play LT. Sounds like a better Tytus. Same things get said about that guy. Would be fine with Dillard since he’s actually good but I give it a 40% chance he’s there. Think the pick is BB/CF round 1 and then we could grab little round 2. He’s certainly not a first despite recent mocks

I don’t like the idea of drafting QB this year.  We have so many holes and Cam is our guy until further notice.

Or until he can't go. Hence, the need for a backup.

I know some people think we're just gonna tank the season if Cam can't go, but that's not how it works.

Here was mine I did.

Christian Wilkins 16

2nd dropped back with Steelers to 2/20 for an extra 3rd.

Zach Allen DE 2/20

Hooker SS/FS 3/13

JoeJuan Williams 3/19

Chuma Edoga 3/36

Polite DE 4/13

Dillon Mitchel WR 5/16

Jordan Scarlett RB 6-14

I like taking 2 DE, DT early if possible— Christians wilkins is a winner— Phili showed what happens if your DT are killing people. We need 2 DE for sure.

Hooker can play FS or SS, gives flexibility. JoeJuan is pretty decent for CB.

Mitchell is one of many WR options— but he’s a 4.4 guy, good size and cone times, good catcher,.. has an attitude that could go either way, but is a real option to part ways with Torrey.

Scarlett is one of many options for a RB— take a similar or a complement— not sure. Edoga or take Evans or Ben Powers or any of them that can plug at RT or RG. I’m good.

Appreciate the work Verge but if Little goes at 16 my TV won’t survive to see round 2 and the rest of that shet show.

LMAO, I was thinking see thing. This dude is projected early second and we are going to let all these first rd guys just go by us. Dude this might be the worst projection I've heard for 16.

So I’m seeing a lot of trade back so we can trade up to get Grier love. So we forgo a top teir pash rusher in order to secure a very ordinary backup? I think if Cam can’t go the season is tanked. Not sure what people expect to get out of Grier they aren’t getting out of Allen already. I think he has proven to be worth giving a shot on as a developmental prospect at a cheaper price.

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
