Burns is said to have no power, if his speed doesn't get him past the OL he's done. Ferrell has power to get thru the OL, if he's gone then Dillard or Wilkens would be better picks than Burns.

You see that when watching him play.  He gives up insta rly when doubled.  Ferrell fights through it.  Again these guys are prospects and your trying to project how they will grow with professional trainers and coaches.  Burns has some special traits which make him a first round prospect, but he won’t be someone who contributes immediately, might take him three years to be an every down player.  Which is ok, that’s normal but the bust potential is higher.  Ferrell is a day 1 starter in my opinion because he has multiple aspects to his game that are good, not just speed rush .

If you do a little reading Hurney tried to! He can be quoted after the draft people asking if he got tempted to trade up for James and he said he called around but the asking price was to much.

If we could have gotten James instead of DJ, then yeah.. James after 1 year is probably a top 5 safety right now and made the Pro Bowl. D.J has shown promise but come on man.. the difference in the caliber of players they are is night and day.

No need to put words in my mouth. Never said I was mad we drafted DJ, guys a baller and has potential to be really good  but Derwin James was the best safety in the league as a rookie. No question about trading up to get him. Thanks for uploading that brown selfie of yours :crying:

No Ferrell is not a speed rusher, he’s got many parts to his game, his hand technique for example is actually elite.  Burns is simply a speed rusher, he will get abused by double teams and teams will run right at him at least until he learns the pro game.  If he learns the pro game.  These guys are prospects remember that and some will bust.  Don’t just read about these guys on the internet.  Go watch the tape, there is no way watching both guys that you can honestly tell me Burns is a better prospect than Ferrell.  It’s actually not even close to me.  If you tell me every down is third and long and the offense is in an obvious passing situation that Burns may get off the line quicker, that may be his only advantage.  Too bad there’s other downs and distances, this isn’t college.  Burns has potential I’m not trying to knock him down, but to compare him to Ferrell is silly in my opinion as he’s a complete player right now.  If Ferrell is gone which I suspect he will be (I’m praying it’s not too Atlanta) than Burns may be all that’s left.  That’s when u think of trading up to get the last guy left of this class, or you trade back and acquire more picks.

Well going off the statistics, Ferrell would be the top pick in the draft. Better than bosa even. But if Ferrell is as good as you think why is nobody projecting him even top 10? Why do most mocks have him as the lone consolation prize for us after every other premier rusher has gone ahead of him? He is the last rusher projected to go in the first round in nearly every mock.

Maybe your a Clemson fan or maybe your scouting eye is better than the rest of the draft world. But you speak of Burns losing in double team situations like he didn’t face them at Florida state. He was their only top teir rusher I imagine they knew he would be a problem, where as Ferrell had arguably the most gifted line ever around him to draw attention away.

I totally agree...it’s really not about not liking burns...it’s just about really liking Ferrell if people actually watch the game tape instead of worrying so much about combine stats. Dude has a ton of pass rush moves already in his arsenal...ready to go day 1, which last time I looked at our dline is what we need this year. Burns looks to me like a 3rd down pass rush specialist to start. Again no knock on him and maybe in 5 years he’s the better player than Ferrell. Maybe. But Ferrell’s a day one starter..I take that. Plus anyone else notice how passive our dline looked last year? Ferrell’s a vocal leader with some dog/fight in him. That poo’s contagious and this defense needs to get back to that 2015 swag

ill be happy with either guy at 16

Sure sounds like it. We wasn't going to go up that high and draft James. Quit whining about something that was never going to happen and something that was almost a year ago. You're not making ur self look real good.

I’m not a Clemson fan and I don’t think my scouting eye is better than anyone’s, it’s strictly my opinion when I watch them both play on film.  I’m not saying Ferrell should be drafted ahead of Bosa.  I saw many downs where Burns ran into a double team and literally just stopped and gave up on the play .  I saw many where Ferrell fought through them because he has power moves and hand technique he can use.  If Burns doesn’t beat a guy off the line, his plays basically over.  An occasional spin move is all he has unless the play breaks down.  Again he can be taught all of those things at the next level, but to have a guy who already posses it day 1 is rare and I think Ferrell goes higher than most mocks predict come Thursday.  Guys with Burns speed and bend are also rare which is why he’s a first rounder, but let’s not pretend he doesn’t have a lot of work to do on his game which may take some time.
