Awful.  Was just there in September, and while I'm not overly religious, it was a pretty moving experience.

It sounds like it is pretty much going to be a total loss.  Very sad, indeed.  It goes back to the 12th century. 

I'm not a religious person, but that does not make it any less sad.  Even as a devout agnostic (on my good days), I find myself fascinated with the  beauty and symbolism in many of the old churches and religious structures.

Heard they got a lot of the relics and religious artifacts out, but I can't imagine the stained glass would have survived...and it was stunning.

I'm not overly religious either, but I can appreciate the craftsmanship and beauty accomplished so long ago. When you consider the tools they had, it makes it even more amazing, and even that much greater a loss.
