I agree so there reasoning for giving up on him wasn't just he's a bad football player.... Injuries, knucklehead-isms, doen't mean your a bad football player does it? I just think we dont have enough evidence to close the book on fowler and say hes a bust.

Who hasn’t thrown in the towel on Butler? And he’s at 30 overall and a huge bust. Kong Ealy had more sacks in his three seasons than Fowler. And improved play nrxt to the best player in football is normal. 

  Answer this? We choose a DE at 16. After 3 seasons he has 12 sacks. Are you satisfied with his development? I think the team with 3.5 years of “research” and the most invested in him were not given they took what they could get for him.

I never liked Fowler coming out of the draft but hes a good player was a big reason (not the only or top) why the Jags and Rams made it far in the Playoffs

I mean if we treated Butler like they did Fowler he would be gone... Team is still rostering him developing him like still has a future here... I don't think you throw out a first round pick until its time to give them that 5th year option which is what it is for. If your not sure and need one more year you have the 5th year. And the fact the team had only vest 3.5 years and one of those years were wipes from injury is why would be able to get anything at all. Nobody trades for a guy who they know is a bust.

Super Bowl Stats:

Ealy 3 sacks, 2 QB Hits, 1 INT, 1 FF, 1 FR

Fowler 0 in all of those

Sorry, but when Fowler’s stats aren’t even better than Ealy’s and while you laud Fowler’s playoff run of 1.5 sacks in 3 games, Ealy dominated a playoff game in a way Fowler never has. Fowler was the #3 overall pick and we call Ealy a bust and he was a 2nd rounder. Fowler is the definition of a bust for Jacksonville.

Is Ealy even still in the league? Fowler is.  And he is a starter. Ealy never missed a whole season with a injury so those stats are inflated.

  If we could get a 3rd(or anything)for Butler he would have been gone long ago. And you seem to want to ignore the difference in top 5 and bottom of the first or second round. Expectations are much different. 

 Would you be satisfied with picking a player such as Fowler at 16 much less 3. Did KB sucking change our return of value for a pick? Nope.

I'm not sure if I would give it a C+ but I do think it isn't nearly as good as the interior D-line group.  Also the fact we are focusing on it probably makes it seem a bit better than it is.

Agreed. 5 legit DE 1st rounders in any draft is impressive.

I would get a true chuckle out of this if Davenport turned to be this low in the rankings in a couple years. Siants May have blown this one   But it will take a couples years to find out.

Great write up. Who is the Ferrell hater? Hope it wasn't you. With as many DE busts, what's wrong with the higher floor lower ceiling. Give me a run stuffer with 7-10 sacks a year with a motor for days and I'll take him. Hell I could go play the lotto tomorrow but guess what? I'll wake up broke.
