I hate this phone. Make a typo, it won't fix it. Type the right thing, it'll switch it to something else. I'm constantly having to edit pists because of it.

*See, it happened again. "Pists"??? C'mon autocorrect...

My phone has started to change play to ply for some reason lol. Used to change the to he as well but stopped doing that for now

I can't type "either" without my phone changing it to "with". It even happened as I was writing this post

There's really this many people here that actually think a rookie mid round quarterback is likely to be able to come in and win games if Cam can't play? Does anyone here watch the NFL? That doesn't happen often, and when it does it's usually a ticket to mediocrity. This rookie would be playing for the Panthers, just think of how married the offense is to Cam making plays, even in the run game.

I guess some of this fanbase really need a new Derek Anderson. The reality of seeing the backups fall the pieces at the end of last season doesn't give them much ammunition to push the trade, move on from, Cam narrative. God knows they tried after a couple of completed passes, but it fell apart really quick after those quarterbacks couldn't take an NFL hit.

Again, the idea that we just tank the season if Cam can't play is just stupid.

There are 50-60 plus other guys on the team. For some (Greg Olsen, for example) this season could be their final shot at a ring. Others might be looking for their next contract. Some might just need a good year to stay on the team or in the league.

But yeah, let's tell all those guys they don't mean sh-t. If we don't have Cam, we're just not gonna try.

I get that your football world revolves around Newton, but believe it or not there are other players on the team and they're not just gonna lay down if others get injured. Yes, even Newton.

Yes, I watch the NFL.  I watched teams early in the season realize a starting NFL qb could not throw accurately over 20 yards and plan defenses accordingly.

I also watched the Seattle Seahawks draft Wilson in the third round and win a Super Bowl.

As for the Derek dig I've turned around in my seat more than once at BOA and told Cam haters they were full of crap.  Love Cam and what he brings to the table and he is our best QB of all time.  But by choosing to think we could play Cam at 65% and still compete we essentially gave up on one year of the window for the team.   If the shoulder is healing and we go with Cam and stand-in's I am fine with it.  But if the shoulder is still a question mark I would not count on this organization standing pat.

That's nice and all, but the fact remains that mid round quarterbacks rarely pan out. If you're going to take one it's better to do it in a quarterback heavy draft where quarterbacks with dings (like size) get pushed down the board.

The fact that they're strongly looking at taking one is reality.

And if they take one, I don't think they're gonna be terribly bothered by whether you thought it was a good idea.

What happen to winning? You don't think they'll be able to win games with a rookie quarterback with question marks? Shocker.

If the Panthers need a quarterback they should look for him next year when there are several franchise prospects.

The fact is that with the situation being what it is, they have to look this season. If Cam isn't 100%, then he doesn't need to play like he did last season. Drafting a QB means they have a legit prospect to put on the field in case Cam isn't 100%.

Again, this isn't Madden. They're not skipping a season. They're going to try to win even if it's without Cam.

Will they succeed? Who knows? They could have a healthy Newton all season and still lose.

Then take some late round no name. Statistically it's about the same.
