Panthers have spent "considerable time" with Will Grier

Brees and Brady were 36 and 35 when the Saints and Pats spent higher than a 4th rounder on a QB. Cam is 29.

If Cam was 35 I wouldn't be at all opposed to spending a higher pick ok a QB but the only reason we should be doing it now is if we have good reason to believe that shoulder may never recover.

Have you forgotten what Cam looked like in the 2nd half of the season? Guy could be out of the NFL in a couple years if his shoulder doesn’t heal

I'm gonna ask you if that's the basis for your argument because there are circumstances to consider.

So is that what you're going off of? I'm assuming so because that's the game a lot of people latch onto.

You do have something specific to discuss, right?

Honestly, looking at our QB visit list, I feel better about the organization's feelings on Cam's shoulder. Grier seems to be the only guy we're tied to with a 3rd or higher draft grade by most pundits. It sees like we likely really like the guy and maybe we would spend one of our thirds on him, but other than him everyone else looks like 4th round or later types. Sure, we could draft someone we haven't met with but QB is the one position that I don't see a team spending a premium 3rd round or higher pick on if they haven't ever sat down with the guy and put him through the ringer.

Remind me. Did we meet with Clausen ahead of time?

What’s with your anti Camness lately?  He looks healthy and ready to roll. He played some of the best football in his career the first half of the season. If he’s healthy we will have a great offense.  Nobody wants us to suck. We just want want to make the best use of our picks.

The only reason we didn’t win a SB is because the league didn’t want us to 4 years ago. Other than that Cam has been the best and most successful QB in our history. He deserves our respect and benefit of doubt.

Dude wants to move on from cam so bad it’s hilarious. Would rather draft a qb in every round then surround an mvp with talent

The phrase "if he's healthy" is a very VERY big deal.

Picking up a backup for a player's in might not be healthy isn't "anti" that player. It's smart roster management.

Yeah, that's a pretty stupid interpretation, but I'm not surprised.

If we draft a guy to back up Luke Kuechly just in case he gets another concussion, does that mean we hate him I want to move on from him?

If I had to bet on Cam or 2nd/3rd round pick in this year's draft, I'd very confidently bet on Cam.

but with your money or house money?  :)

WalterFootball  4/4/19: In 2018, Grier completed 67 percent of his passes for 3,864 yards with 37 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Multiple team sources who have seen Grier in person say he has just average arm strength and has a hard time driving the ball when he can't set his feet. Some in the media have pushed Grier as a first-round pick, but that was dealt a devastating blow at the Senior Bowl when Grier's lack of arm was painfully obvious. He did interview well, but he looks more like a second-day or mid-round pick with a backup quarterback skill set. Teams project Grier to the second day and mid-rounds.

I don't follow the draft but have friends who are big NC State fans.  Where does Finley fit into the equation?  Is Grier better?

Yeah that’s a pretty stupid interpretation of my hyperbole, but I’m not surprised.

Yes, if we use a high round pick on Luke’s backup I will be pissed too. You know we have actual needs on the roster right?
