Well, this is actually the seventh championship for the Checkers over the years, so not really a big deal.   To be fair, they've been around since 1956 or something with a break in the 80s. All kidding aside, it actually is a pretty big deal. Especially how they got there with best regular season record, then mostly dominating the playoffs. Future looks bright for the Hurricanes.
