if you consider the progression of Canes scoring over the three games, you know the Caps are getting worried about going all 7 games. If they won in 7, that would leave a tired Cap team with not a bunch of confidence. I suspect that the Caps will get more physical in the next two games to get rid of these jerks...if we can win the next game by 3 or more, I think we are in their heads and will run the table for game 6 win.

Good to hear the kids alright, but they fired up a dangerous team and they will pay. Take warning.

Looking at that fight I’m thinking they picked the rookie knowing he has never fought before. Hoping to see some vengeance in game 4

The caps picked the fight? To have their best player and scorer go to the box for 5 minutes while already behind? With a guy that had not been an official fight in 10 years? And if so the teams response was completely the opposite of why they would pick a fight to get the bench and players full tilt, no?

Take off the tin foil hat. Props to the kid for attempting to play Ovi's physical game, but don't say you want go, nod, then expect the emotional pinball that is Ovi not to oblige you. Honestly keeping Ovi occupied with jawing and someone always bodying him off puck is a fine way to keep him out of the net with one timers. Don't let him setup off puck.

And good Lord if Brinda told Svech to go mess with Ovi and start a fight.........

Vengeance for what going toe to toe, asking a guy to fight and getting lit?

These are hockey players, great many of them will oblige you to a fight if you ask. Especially Ovi who is full throttle all the time and definitely has a few screws loose.

Hope both either team goes full goon. No place for it.

As for the game: dominant performance from the Canes. The back end for the Caps has been suspect all year and Kempny out hurts an already marginal group (thank Djoos). It's also the Caps so win or lose, no surprise from them, can never figure what they will do. This year's Caps are not as good as last (and honestly the championship team likely wasn't as good as the team the year before). Last year's team had luck (it's playoffs luck helped last year, others not), and Lady Luck is fickle. Caps could repeat or not win another game this year, they love to disappoint.

Caps have had three good starts in period 1 and  Canes outplay the Caps for 40+ min thereafter. Puck didn't go in game 3 and Canes whipped them.

Patrick Brown had been recalled from Charlotte.

Expected it to be him with the way this series is being played. Another 6’1”, 215 lb. forward to throw at the Caps.

Statistically this has been Brown’s best year so maybe he can give us a little production playing in a bottom 6 role. He can’t be worse than Ferland.

Watched the kid in Charlotte a good bit. He's literally less-polished Ferland.

Like I said before the series, tampa isn't beating us

I’ll pull for y’all big time against the Bruins or Caps if you meet either of them. Otherwise there are other teams I prefer. Either way congrats on that dominant first ever series win against a 62 win team. Wow. Hope the Canes can do similar and knock off the defending champs.

It's entirely possible that all four 1 seeds lose their opening series. 4 WC teams advancing. That would be nuts. Doubt it happens, of course, but it could as of right now.

Also, Toronto and Boston could drag out. CBJ may end up having a nice rest before the next series starts. This could be both good and bad for them. Rested but rusty and coming off an impressive sweep? Things will start getting dicey next week for whoever is there.

BJs had zero pressure in the first round. Now it’s on. Whether it’s Boston or Toronto, the next series will not be a cakewalk for them regardless of whether that series goes 5 games or 7.
