EDGE is the pick

Burns, Wilkins, Sweat, White, Williams, Bush (no one else really has a chance in hell of making to 16th). Any of those guys in the first is a better improvement to our team than an OT or OG. Even with our craptastic offense with a hamstrung Cam, we still managed to grade in the top half of teams last year, while our defense was definitely in the bottom half. That alone should be telling everyone with half a brain what our first pick should be - Defense, then more defense, then maybe some more defense. Pick a Safety or LB in the 2nd, and round out with OL and whatever we missed in rounds 1 and 2 for the last pick of the day.

Ferrell will be there...

Can we stop calling pass rushers "edge"? It is a stupid word to use as a noun.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Edge is actually the more accurate term to use when talking about pass rushers. I mean is there a big difference in a defensive end and a outside linebacker besides the front they are playing in? They both lineup on the outside of a formation and there duty is normally to set the "edge" and chase down the quarterback.

All I see....

Edge is the position in most need of influx of talent

Offensive line is still important bc of question marks concerning the health and availability of starters and the health of the quarterback.

If Brian Burns is available, I'd take him over any offensive lineman in this draft. If he isn't not and the team has a higher grade on a lineman, that's fine and justifiable.

I think cornerback is a wildcard position though if the edges are all gone. The best corner could possibly be available and we could still use talent at that position.

True, but from everything I've read, he doesn't seem to fit the direction we seem to want to go with the defense. Although, I certainly won't be upset if he's the pick, I'm just not sure he'd be better for us than those others. I'm hoping for Burns myself, if we go pure edge, but I'd much rather snag Wilkins to be honest. I think he could play well in both an odd and even front, as DE or UT, and make it so we can move on from KK if he doesn't pick up his game later on down the road and turn back into the player we gave a monster contract to.

So long as we go DL or an elite defensive player in the first, I'll be happy. Only thing that will truly piss me off is if we use the 16th on an OL player, as I don't feel anyone is worth the pick in this draft, and similar can be found in the later rounds. However, I'd be open to trading back in round one for more picks, then getting some of those OL guys later on. That's the fun of the draft, just about anything can happen, and plans change direction on a dime when trades happen, making predicting it all a crap shoot.

Anything past that point you getting to the 5-6th best end or rusher on the board which at 16 you ideally should be getting 1 or 2 at that position so I start to see it as forcing need. I look at Tackle which the 1st or second tackle should be on the bored. Probably the best corner, something like that. Address your secondary need.

It might be cliche but”let the draft come to you” might not be a bad approach. I don’t want to reach just to say I’ve addressed my perceived biggest need.  Get a quality player, especially if there is value.

Right on...we had our choice of good players just sitting and waiting rather than pulling an Atlanta ha...people get “need” goggles and think there’s only 2-3 players that can fill that. If we sit tight we can draft the best player between oline, FS and corner even. If we try to trade up I’d do it to jump back into the 2nd  or 3rd rd using our late pics. But I want our 3 picks minimum today. If done right the rest of the draft is just gravy
