Prospects with multple or private visits with Panthers

I like Abrams a lot, but his stock has climbed to a high second rounder or even a late first.  I had mocked him at #47 for a while, but now he seems out of reach.  If for some reason he does slide to #47, I think we would be getting a steal as I think he's the best safety in this class.

Looking at this list ... I can see positional targeting:

First: Edge

Second: Safety

Third: Lineman ....Third: QB

If both Sweat and Burns are gone...

First: Lineman

Second: Safety

Third: Edge ...Third: Edge

There is the element of surprise...where Hurney could pick outside the box: CB (Braberry's last year), RB (CMC - too many touches and what happens to this offense if he misses time) , LB (Depth, Speed advantage, the new scheme, Shaq insurance), Safety (We have the chance to finally solidify the back end) TE (Olsen is retied and we have Ian but TJ is another animal)... Dunno know how I'd feel about it but it's a crap shoot anyway.  I'ma just sit back and enjoy the ride for the moment.

But keep in mind, we drafted Stewart two years after Williams.

At the end of the day our needs will be filled between the draft, UDFAs, FA's still available, and FA's after the 53 roster cutdown. I'm not really worried.

Clayton Thorson.....anybody know his projected draft round?

A day 3 pick, most likely the 6th or 7th round and could possibly go undrafted.  All it takes is one team to really like the kid and he could higher.

I you are going BPA then I would say Sweat is the highest on the that list followed by Burns, Ferrell, Dillard in no particular order(it depends on where HURNEY rates them, not us).  2nd round is McGary, Rapp, Jones, Samuel, and Savage(I know some put him in the 3rd round but if you want him you would have to take him there--hes getting popular).

The rest I have no clue where they go or how Hurney ranks them.

You would think we would take a hard look at guys like Chase Winovich, D'Andre Walker and others as either backup or double dip options depending on what gets drafted first.  Im shocked that if we are looking at Deebo Samuel as a possibility that we are not looking at Parris Campbell,.. and Riley Ridley.

Im sure a lot more visits are to follow down the wire.

I'm a firm believer most teams try to keep hidden that certain players are visiting them privately. Why would you tip your hand to teams behind you who you might be targeting?

Now, the visits you release to the public are common knowledge you would see. IE Burns or Safetys. Everyone knows we are looking at those players so no reason to hide it.

If we get Abrams he won’t be a safety.  I smell another position conversion coming.

Like a  LB?  That is what I have been thinking....He does remind one of Thomas Davis coming out of college...

Remember we never met with Jonathan Stewart and several other players over the years.

Hurney is much bigger at blowing smoke screens than Gettlemen is.

I will agree, many Panthers fans knew for nearly a month that CMC was the pick at #8.  Gettleman was horrible about smokescreens once he got infatuated with a player.  That was one of the easiest first round mock selections I ever had to make for this team.
