Jonah Williams vs Andre Dillard

It seems like scouts are all about Dillard over Jonah as LT. Jonah had an amazing college career but apparently his arms are too short. I'm not buying that and feel like Jonah is the better player.

So convince me why Dillard would be the better pick or would you chose Jonah first?

From everything I've read, Dillard has a higher ceiling but lower floor while Williams has a higher floor but lower ceiling.

I'd be happy if either is our first round pick.

One red flag for Williams for me is how bad Clelin Ferrell abused him in the natty.

I think  we take a tackle in the draft, but it will be a developmental guy later.  I am not sold on either of these Tackles--I would take Cody Ford if we go OL--play him at LG for a season and let him compete for a T job in 2020.  Who knows if Williams will be back or Moton can sustain  LT play.

I  just do not see how we do not go DL in this draft---I am one who thinks we could go NT, but only if Sweat and Burns are gone.

Williams has a rock solid body of work. No one on this board or anywhere else can say any different. Some of the Huddle armchair scouts are continually saying that Williams got abused by Ferrell, but the fact is, it was a legit battle between two legit first rounders.

And, it's not just a writer on CBS Sports saying that it was a legit battle between Williams and Ferrell, it's others too.

10 (tie). Clelin Ferrell, Clemson, Redshirt Junior AND Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama, Junior:

"The one-on-one matchup between Ferrell and Williams - my top-rated blocker potentially available in the 2019 draft - was worth the price of admission in, itself. On first clip below, Ferrell over-powers Williams but the Tide's standout blocker won his share of battles too, as you can see in the following clip. Both project as top 15 picks. Ferrell recording four tackles, including 1.5 for loss."

I am going to give some of you the benefit of the doubt that you mean well, but I believe that you're falling victim to being subject to the sexiness and sensationalism of the defensive end, and not giving the big ugliness of the offensive tackle his due because it ain't sexy.

I would draft Williams in a heartbeat (and before Dillard).

Ah, an actual good draft topic!

For me, I'd go Williams.  He's lived in the SEC for his career and played very well.  The length thing isn't that big of a deal with his technique and tenacity.  He could also be a high level, day 1 LG starter for us.  Then the OL is pretty much solidified.

Dillard has the tools and he's considered the best pure pass blocker in the draft.  We aren't a pure passing team.  We need someone who can help us run the ball effectively.  Dillard could become a good run blocker, but he won't be day 1.

Williams for now, Dillard for the future (maybe?).

A nose tackle? Surely you dont mean first round? Its either edge or OT, unless we take a ed oliver type that can play end in the 3-4 alignment.

Yeah boo. I could see that too. I think we likely take Sweat or Burns if available and if not I could see us taking Dexter Lawrence. I don’t think Poe is good enough. Without a quality nose, Luke and Shaq will get murdered.

Great article! It's like football porn. If either of these players are sitting around at 16, I want them! My only concern with Williams if that it says he's susceptible to the inside Rush and we have a big fat question mark At left guard.
