Smith Weighs In

Panthers WR Steve Smith weighed in the Panthers QB situation today.

When asked about Jake Delhomme’s job being up in the air, Smith replied, “I think a lot of things are up in the air. When things aren’t going right, that is the things you have to go through at any position whether it be safety or tight end. Every position has the potential of being a change or a rotation of some sort.”

As for Delhomme being a fixture with the Panthers, Smith was straight to the point.

“It’s part of this business,” Smith said. “Even the Hall of Famers I’ve met… hey, the day is going to come at some point where everybody may be worked out or let go or retire or whatever word you want to put on it. This locker was somebody’s before me and it will be somebody’s after me. That is just part of the process of a job.”

When asked if teammates have confidence in Delhomme, Smith replied, “The confidence other people have doesn’t have anything with your ability to do something…. The person that is doing it has to be able to have confidence in (him)self. You can’t walk around hoping people have confidence in you. That’s that YMCA mentality of “everybody’s a winner,” but that don’t count in between those white lines. The guys you’re playing against don’t care if your buddy or your teammate has confidence in you. If you’re out there and you have a jersey and you’re on the field, other people’s opinions don’t really matter.”

As for why Delhomme is struggling, Smith said, “I’m not sure exactly why. But there’s a lot of things going on this year that don’t look as good as they should. I think that’s a telltale sign when you have a down year or you have a slow start.”

Atleast he isn't all over Delhomme's Jock like Gross is. Sounds like he just wants to win at this point.

jake is a virus to the panthers

Now, that's a stupid statement.

The virus is Foxball.

Jake may be the retarded kid on the playground who keeps double dribbling and you don't call it, but he's not a "virus," like he's doing anything but struggling on the field.

He's not blowing up in the locker room.

Actually, it's the truth.

To refer to someone as a "VIRUS" or a "CANCER" is to imply that they are some harmful, evil corrupting influence.

Jack is just SUCKING on the field.

He's not destroying the locker room.

Maybe you should learn the definition of a word before you use it loosely, or better yet, pull your head out of Matt Moore's arse.
